gas blower stopped....will not start....

I have a craftsmen gas blower I've used for about 3-4 years very minimally. While it was blowing....it just stopped. I pulled the plug and it appears fine. It seems as if there is no fire. I guess I'm torn. If I take it in to be worked on, its likely going to cost that of a new one. It is getting fuel...ie the gas line is not plugged. I just wonder if there is a short in the plug wire.

Do plugs go bad?

Yes, plugs can go bad. They dont cost much to replace. Try to start it with the plug out, but still hooked to the wire and see if you get a spark.

Your ignition coil could possibly be defective.

With plug in, it needs enough compression for the flywheel to rock back on compression stroke instead of just coast to a halt when you spin it. Engines that die when running instead of refusing to start might have wiped out piston/rings........Joe

Is it a 2-stroke engine or a 4-cycle engine?
An engine does not usually just stop working for poor compression unless there is a valve issue.
Yes remove the plug then put the wire back on it and using a pair of pliers with insulated handles or a dry rag hold the threads against the engine and have someone pull the cord.
Tell us if there is sparking at the plug.
