Smile Hoa

HOA-Home Owners' Association

Believe it or not.
I called them to find out if I could put in a shed on our acre.
Their answer: We are only in charge of the outlot. (The outlot is an extra acre we all own, no taxes, no cost, we let a farmer farm it.)
I asked them if we could have chickens on our acre.
Their answer: We are only in charge of the outlot.
I asked them if we could use the outlot.
Their answer: sure if you want to just let us know.
I asked them if we could.....just about anything.
Their answer: We are only in charge of the outlot.

HOA's could take a lesson from our HOA!!! I'm impressed. We have the model HOA.

Believe it or not.
I called myself to find out if I could put in a shed on our acre.
My answer: Yep
I asked myself if we could have chickens on our acre.
My answer: Yep
I asked myself if we could use any part of the property.
My answer: sure if you want to just let yourself know.
I asked myself if we could.....just about anything.
My answer: That's disgusting, but yep.

HOA's could take a lesson from myself!!! I'm impressed. I have the model myself.

You Lucky!!!!

Having lived under a HOA for 19 years(before we moved 18months ago)... all I can say is.... you certainly lucked out....

(First yr under the HOA some guys girlfriend hated cats and made everyone cover up all of our garden beds with bird netting because she didnt want the TWO cats owned by us and another owner--walking on them-- we had to go to ARBITRATION around this: a-r-b-i-t-r-a-t-i-o-n, another fun acronym that goes right along with H-O-A)...And then, my mom came out and visited us over the summer and went home to Florida really excited to get a couple of laying hens--

Nope said the HOA (they didnt have a rule on it but they made one up right quick when my mom asked about it)....

Asked the HOA just this morning if I could pee off the porch - she didn't stop snoring long enough to answer

I never had but 1 HOA. I had rather be in a penitentiary. There I would only have the warden controlling what I do and that would be indirect.

That's the exception to how HOAs usually try to micro manage. But keep an eye on them. The board members change. You could still get some busy bodies in there who want to "raise the standards" and be a pain. It's like that dog who was so nice......until he bit you.

True enough! Though we have the same HOA officials (volunteers) now for 25 years. If we volunteered to run the HOA ourselves we'd require chickens in every yard.
