Spider ID

I'm really hoping this is not a brown recluse.

Can anyone confirm this?

Not the greatest photo, is it?

That looks very much like a wolf spider to me, with the stripes on its body.
They are often confused for brown recluses.

Where did you find it at and what was it doing?
Did someone get bit?

Nope, just a normal old spider.

It's tucked in the place I grab to open the overhead door in the barn! Glad I looked !

I hate spiders. I hope my muscovies get to work on them!

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure its a wolf too. Brown recluse have an hourglass shape on its back.

The "dead one" next to it is an exoskeleton shed, likely from the live one. Pretty sure it's a common (harmless) wolf spider species; brown recluse has "fiddle-shaped" thorax mark and legs that stick out relatively farther.

That is just a harmless spider. Brown recluse are a reddish brown and very unmistakeable.

No brown recluses in western NY, except for the rare hitchhiker which will most likely die in the winter. Recluse spiders belong to the family Sicariddae which live in warm climates. Other spiders with necrotic venom (or venom that induces necrosis-like symptoms) are often incorrectly attributed to recluse spiders. In the northern U.S. most of these bites attributed to recluse spiders are from yellow sac spiders. People that are sensitive to spider venom can have serious reactions from otherwise harmless spiders as well.

Also, as has been noted, recluse spiders have longer, more spindly legs. Rest easy.
