Oh, I miss Buckley!

My 3rd husband and I used to be club members ... we worked on the parking lot shuttle crew along with some friends. He drove a tractor and I rode herd on the passengers! It was a lot of fun.

It's been 5 years now since I moved away, and every year I say I want to go home in time for Buckley, but never make it. Maybe next year ...

Sounds like fun. There's a similar show in Daviess County, Indiana (Elnora) the weekend after Labor Day. Does my heart good to see acres and acres of old tractors, all spiffed up and ready to roll. Plus there's a sizeable Amish contingent so
horse-drawn farming demos all weekend, plus steam engines, etc. Large flea market and antiques booths all over the fairgrounds. It's worth a trip for those in the Midwest who can go.

Never made to Buckley yet. But plan on going one day. I've been to Northeastern Indiana gas and steam, Maumee Valley and the Portland show. I've take my 1920 Economy engine to the northeastern show. The engine that I have was sold by Sears & Roebuck and made by Hercules in Evansville,IN..

Went to Buckley one year with the purpose of selling the tractor I had at the time.
Camped there all week . . . what a blast. . . drove the tractor all over the place.....

On Sunday the guy who had been looking at my tractor for 4 days approached and said "I'll come up a bit (price) . . . if you would come down a bit" "That way you wont have to trailer it home"

My trailer was empty going home.........

It has been said that the Buckley show is the largest in the country....
If you like beautiful old Iron then you haven't lived if you haven't been to Buckley....
Live steam engines--working. A steam engine train you can ride

Pop up --Buckley Old Engine Show---and enjoy a wonderful picture gallery.....

Proud to say I've been there . . .done that . . . many times . . . . .

Went on Thursday last week. a real treat to see the old steam engines and stuff. The flea market left a lot to be desired. Mostly tables of new junk from china. Hardly any antique stuff for sale. All the people exhibiting their tractors and other engines couldn't have been nicer about answering questions and talking about their interests.

I usually skip through the flea market pretty quickly,I only stop at the places that have old stuff and Animal the drill guy,,those drills are top notch and I meant to buy more this year but didn't,,I picked up a hay fork and a perculating coffee pot for 10 bucks each,a 1 inch x 15/16 combination wrench for 2 bucks and a IH Farmall hat,I don't like the blanket sales guys and the gimmick product stuff but I suppose you have to take the good and bad with flea markets.
there are so many tractors there it's hard to see them all,I seen some leaving Sunday that I didn't see fri or sat,,(I skipped the parade both days),the best part is the stuff like the spark show that the people that come during the day don't get to see,,the music, the food and even the 6 am melody of steam whistles less than 150 yards from the camper is cool,,next year I hope to have my own display in the small engine section, hope to see ya'all there.

I have seen many people stop dead in their tracks when the noon time steam whistle concert starts.
And my oh my, some of those whistle operators do get creative . . . lol
Yup running in the parade daily sure chewed up a couple of hours........
The spark show bothered me a bit because of my living out 'in the country' I am super concerned with fire.......

I urge you folks to go to your start page and type in BuckleyOldEngineShow.com

photo gallery's will show the 040 steam engine, the tower just for the steam whistles, and so much more.......
The great old equipment that built this country......

ps I would appreciate some help putting in that link to the Buckley show . . . Seems I don't know how to type a link in......thanks
