chickens + corn

Why wont my chickens eat corn. I mix whole grains together for my feed. I've been mixing this way for 20 years- no problem. For the last 3-4 years the chickens are leaving more and more of t he corn behind. Is anyone else having problems with this? Even my turkeys and rabbits don't care for it. I buy corn from different places, some from farmers, and I get the same results.
Any ideas.

I have no idea.... our chickens eat corn, crushed, ground, or right off the cob.

Try crushing it. What else in in your mix that they DO eat??? I know mine would NOT eat dry peas whole. Once crushed they liked them.

Do they have plenty of grit, takes grit for a chicken to process corn....James

My mix has wheat, barley, boss, oats, corn. The chickens are free range so I assume they get enough grit. But then this is the way that I have raised them for years with no problem. Now if I give them dried sweet corn they eat it right up.

Mine don't like corn in the heat of the summer. GMO might be a factor too.

I mixed their grain and free ranged them. Are you giving them a different corn than you used to?

I agree with the first part, and this for the 2nd part.

Yep, this is why I never let my chickens read articles about GMO's, they would for sure have a fit if they only knew what they were eating.

My free range chickens eat whatever they can find... I've stopped straight corn, as it's the same as laying pellets (which has more protein)... just enough to keep em close to the house...
