Are Federal Pacific FUSE BOXES(not breakers) safe to use?

I know about those Faulty BREAKER boxes Federal pacific made back in '82, but how are their fuse boxes?

My garage has 30 amp 220 service via 10 gauge wire, running into a FPE fuse panel.

The panel was installed in our shed building years ago by my Dad, who found it at a garage sale, it has 30 amp double throw breakers at the mains.

It uses Buss fuses for all it's worth.

My experience with FPE breakers is that the breakers themselves wouldn't trip . Nothing to do with the box . I don't see that being a problem with fuses .

It is most likely just fine. Make sure the fuses are properly sized for the conductors connected to them, check connections for corrosion and torque. Look for any signs of overheating on the connections and fuse holders, if you notice any signs of overheating it would be safest to replace it or at least have an electrician take a look at it. Fuses are great protection when properly used but they are much easier to miss use than breakers. Good luck.

I decided to change it out, a six breaker box is like only $20 bucks for the box and $6 for the breakers, so it was a no brainer.
