Ford 2600 losing power uphill

My Ford 2600 wants to slow down when going uphill. I can get the engine rolling again if I push in the clutch and wait for a second. The tractor runs fine on level or downhill.

I'm not sure if it is related but the rear hydraulic lift is spotty; it lifts about 50% of the time. Sometimes it doesn't lift, but will lift if I try again in a minute or so.

Any thoughts?

Gas or Deisel?

Gas, I'd guess that the fuel mixture is too lean or timing way off/not advancing.

................Check to see IF the tractor has a HYdraulic filter , when was the last time it was changed ? For the engine (IF) gas , check fuel filter , air filter , fuel pressure , check for vacuum hose leaks , float in carb may need adjustment , etc .
..................IF diesel , again , check ALL filters , fuel pressure , water in fuel , etc . Also , check for antifreeze in oil , which would indicate a head gasket problem . , fordy

So........ Is it the engine getting weak and struggling?

Or is it the clutch slipping, and you slow down, but the engine really isn't working all that hard?

What happens if you let it stall out, are you standing still with the engine still running, then you have a hydraulic and or clutch problem.

If the engine kills off, THRN you have an engine problem.
