Hunt lease rates Lake Gaston Va. area

I posted this in the Great Outdoors forum and got a lot of views but no replies. I called numerous businesses in Virginia and still do not have an answer. Here is my question I need to know what is the going lease rate per acre for a hunt lease on property joining Lake Gaston on the Virginia side. The lease would be for all legal game. The property consists of 330 acres +-. TIA.

Found this doing a quick google search. Don't know if it will help you or not.
http://www.basecampleasing.com/land/hunting-lease.htm

eta: Thought I better add this in case it leases. The listing says 500 acres, max 10 hunters, price $10,000. Listed for deer hunting
another eta: found this that may help you also. appendix 3 has a sample lease agreement form

WoolyBear, thanks for the response. I had done some research prior to posting and came up with much of what you did. With the many views that occurred it does seem that someone would have first hand experience or exposure as the the going rate in location. I do know there are a lot of people in that area that do hunt.

While I don't hunt a lease or lease out land, I do know what you can charge is based on a number of factors. The 1st and most important one is whether or not there B&C quality bucks on the property. If the answer is no then you are probably not going to get a lot for it. Some of the other things are the other types of game and how many can actually hunt the property. If there are buildings on site that people can stay can increase the price as well. The fact that is on the water is a plus if they can use it for fishing or boating.

I want to make sure I understand what you're asking My BIL lives on lake gaston, NC side, and he hunts. Are you wanting to lease the land to individuals so they can hunt? I don't know if my BIL leases any property to hunt on, but he probably knows people that do.

I may lease the property for hunting. I have an interested party but I am wanting to know the average going rate. The lease will be for for hunting all legal game and will run from July through June of each year. There does exist a large cove so water fowl could be hunted. I am attempting to establish a price as an absentee land owner.

Another place you might check is your State Game and Fish Department. I'm not sure about Va. but some states require hunting leases to have a permit or at least register the fact that they are leasing hunting land. Your County Extension Service may well have some information . You could also go to one of the local Sportsman's Clubs and ask around. I'd bet someone there would be involved in a hunting lease.

spur,

The wife called them and they were rather rude and stated they had no idea as to the lease rates or why we called them!
