I have had AAA for about 3 years now and I am very happy with it. I call the number on the card, they confirm and send someone to help. Don't need any money up front to pay for help and don't have to wait for insurance company to reimburse you.

It covers any vehicle you are a passenger in too!

I have had it for years and it has been well worth it. I feel better with my wife out and about too in case she breaks down somewhere.

I've had a membership with AAA for over twenty years. Best money you will ever spend during the year. They will be there when you call, never had a problem from flat tires, battery dead to keys locked in the car. Peace of mind, you don't want to be on your own out on the road.

I up grade to have my car towed 100 miles. I don't live close to any trusty garages for the 25 miles around. It is worth the money.

We have the AAA Ultra [100 miles towing] and it has been used by my wife and daughters a lot and it has bailed me out a few times too. Back when I commuted 40 miles to work, every failure was far enough that I was glad to have the extra towing. It really helped one trip back from Gettysburg after picking up my daughter @ college. Truck quit on the PA turnpike, tow to NJ cost me $20.00 plus the tolls all the way back to my home. The tow was fast & bounced the wire [fuel pump power] away from the exhaust and it started the next day when I changed the blown fuse & promptly re-melted on the way to the garage to have it checked out. AAA came to my rescue again. Since it had started after the tow it was another breakdown and meets AAA rules of one tow per breakdown.

We've been paying for Good Sam Emergency Road service for the last 9 years. Covers all my trailers, RV, Stock trailer, car trailer etc. and all vehicles and 3 three drivers. Will tow 100 miles to a mechanic or your home.

Been a member since 1967, consider it like homeowners (or any other) insurance - expensive right up until you need it than ever thankful you've got it.......

My wife and I have been members for @ 22 years. Have had to use them a few times. Nice to have peace of mind, especially if you're traveling about. I especially like that they prepare "trip tiks" for when you plan to drive somewhere to indicate best routes, where there are construction zones, etc. I think it's a good value...otherwise I wouldn't continue to renew.

I'd never heard of Good Sam -- just read the information. They cost a bit more than AAA but do not have a towing miles limit, which might be helpful since I live in a rural area. Has anyone had both (for Autos) and can compare them?
When I had a roadside assistance program (through AARP) the one time I needed it I waited over two hours and finally accepted a lift from a stranger into town and made my own arrangements to get the vehicle picked up and towed in. To their credit, AARP did pay a portion of the cost, but it took me having a screaming fit with their rep. for that to happen.

That is one good thing with AAA, they have people everywhere.

I had it, call them once. They said it would be hours. I called the local guy myself and he came right out. Luckily I had enough money to pay him. Check with your insurance, Nationwide has "free" (ok nothing's free) roadside assistance. I've never had to use so far.

Wouldn't be without it - they've really saved our butts a couple of times.
Very cheap for what you get - all it takes is once of being stranded in the middle of nowhere to get your $$ worth for years of paying in.

There's Good Sam, RV Roadhelp (through Allstate), and Coach.net. Haven't heard of any people with RV's using tripple A.

I've had both. We travel often in our RV. My experience has been that Good Sam is much better than AAA, but this is with our RV. Not sure how they compare for autos only. Good Sam has the best service when it comes to locating service and campgrounds and obtaining maps on the internet. And, Good Sams roadside assistance is superior, especially for RVs in my opinion.

WELL worth it.
I bought ours when we were moving to NM. The membership ended up being more than free-the AAA discount on the rental truck we received was greater than the AAA purchase price.

I've had it more off than on for many years. Not perfect, and I've had a few fiasco's, but overall, it's been helpfull, particularly when I needed to be dragged home.

They will drag your car home if you wish, not simply to the nearest garage.

Several upgrades for longer towing (100 miles, and 200 miles). I've used that up to 100 mile several times. This has been helpfull.

Lots of various restrictions regarding trailers, trucks, RVs, motorcyles, etc. Varies with the region. Make sure you understand what will be towed, and what will not, and what your options are.

The maps and general discounts for being a AAA member are nice as well, provided you actually remember to use them (I tend to forget).
