Chipper shredder

I found a chipper shredder on Clist and went to see it. It would not shred. They knocked another 50 off and I thought this is an ez fix. Hey did you know that Troy bilt does not sell parts anymore. I did not. Anyway the blade needed to be replaced. I looked on line at Lowe's , Sear's and amozon.$50. and up. I found this incredible site called Chalmers Industries in Pueblo, Co. Ordered two blades for $60.00. If you have a need for a Troy bilt part I suggest this place.
Hope this helps someone.

I know what you mean. I bought a troybuilt tiller years ago. It lasted about 10-12 years and suddenly the engine locked up. So I thought I would just buy another engine to replace it with. Well, found out they don't make that style of engine anymore and they don't make a engine at all that would fit the model of frame. Bummer, so much for all the stories of people owning a 25 year old troybuilt that helped pursuade me to purchase one in the first place. That's also when I found out troybuilt went under and sold to another company.

Yeah most all the tillers look just alike.

I bought a "Bearcat" 5.5 HP chipper/shredder from a Craigslist listing last year and was delighted with it until just a few days ago. I had it sitting on an open side porch and moved it to chip up a pile of pruned branches; there is a maybe 4" drop from the porch to adjacent concrete walkway and I pushed the unit off without being extremely cautious about the "bump" from that amount of drop. It *seemed* like very solid sheet metal construction throughout... then a few feet down the walk, it tilted over and started binding up on the single axle it rolls along; the metal extensions that the axle mounts on had crumpled up! What'd they do, contract out some components to the cheapest bid in China for eventual assembly in Fargo, ND? Anyway, I've found I can move it by using a heavy refrigerator dolly, using its wheels and axle in effect, instead. Have to prop the thing up now with several rocks or whatever to use it, though. Figure I may have to find a local metalworker to weld something like this dolly's axle and wheels onto an over-engineered redone mounting bracket, or just keep using it like this, trying not to have to move it very far.

Anyway, maybe somebody reading this can learn from my experience and be suitably cautious moving their chipper around.
