Attaching a Garmin GPS unit to dash

I purchased a Garmin GPS unit from Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-2555LMT...ds=garmin+2550 It comes with a suction windshield mount, but the way my windshield curves out, I don't see anywhere I can attach it where I can see it safely or reach the GPS easily, plus the power cord would be in the way. The dash in my vehicle is also curved so the "friction" dash mounts won't work. I do have a space that would be perfect if I could find a way to either glue the suction piece to it or juryrig some kind of mount. I first thought of just using velcro, but that won't work since the power cord goes into the back of the unit (dumb design if you ask me) so it won't lie flat. What kind of glue do I need that would be strong enough to glue the suction cup to the dash where it would be in the full sun most days? I'll bring the unit inside but the bracket would have to stay attached to the dash and would need to stand up to 120+ degrees inside the car on sunny days. Or does anyone have an idea how to connect the bracket to the dash in a 2010 GMC Terrain?

Here is where I thought I'd try to attach the mount (red X):

I hate these new vehicles that have the curved dash -- there's no place to keep anything.
AND pits! I just noticed the price dropped $10.00 since I ordered it a week ago.

Velcro/glue a plate (sheet metal, tile piece etc.) where you want it, then suction to that?

Don't know what the crime situation is in your area, but my daughter in Suburbia has been warned to never leave any indication that she has a GPS unit visible inside the car, such as a permanent mount. It's an invitation to someone to break into the car to search for and steal the unit itself.

We generally mount ours on the windshield and then remove the suction cup and unit when not in use to deter thieves. I'm not sure that I understand why it doesn't fit on your windshield. We have a Garmin with the plug on the back and we just plug it into the cigarette lighter.

Self-adhesive velcro melts the adhesive in the sun. Don't ask me how I know.

Google garmin adhesive disc.

Basically a disc that adheres to your dashboard that will hold your suction cup.

Try on your windshield just below your rear-view mirror

I can't reach the windshield except the top part as it curves out so far. If I mount the unit on the top of the windshield, I'm concerned about safety as I'd be taking my eyes off the road too often to see it plus I'd have the cord hanging down which I think would be a real distraction.

Thank you! I found one for my model on both E-Bay and Amazon. I wonder why Garmin didn't have these listed on their webpage?
