Ever been to a terrier show?

I'm bringing my Jack Russel to a show and competition next weekend. Never been to one before. I plan to enter him in hunting and race classes. Anyone ever done this?

Here is a video from a previous event at the same place.

Tricky Grama and Minelson like this.

So much fun!

I loved the JRTCA trials. The first one we went to, I was very young, and very shy. A kind lady took me under her wing and helped show us around. I am forever grateful that she did.

Later, we bought a terrier from one of the people holding the trial and all the buyers ended up like a big family - it was neat to see our puppy's siblings, to have an instant bond with these other people with these really nice, very fast, super smart little dogs.

People were friendly and helpful and we had a great time everytime.

I hope you do too!!

I bought my JRT from the woman putting on the show. I'm hoping to find a female there. Great bloodlines so I feel an obligation to breed him. He is a good'un.

I see that you are in MN, Tinknal - if you are near St. Croix, they used to hold a great trial there. Our favorite though was the Arctic Blast trials in WI.
I hope you find the perfect girl and raise some Good'un terriers

Never been to one but my daughter and SIL had their Border Terrier here over the weekend and it's not hard to tell why they call them "earth dogs".

I haven't been to a terrier show. I have been to the Detroit bench show twice, and to a toy dog show once. I think I found my breeder last summer at the toy dog show. A dog show is a great place to check out dogs if you aren't sure what you need, and a great place to talk to knowledgable people .

Just found out that the half brother of my dog is in this years Purina Challenge. Kind of ups the ante a little. Hope he gets to watch a couple of heats before he goes.
