dehumidifier

I am looking to get some something to take humidity out of the house. I ran across the Wave ventilation system, sounds interesting. Is anyone familiar with this system?

Thanks

Wave wants $1300 for a system that cost them around $300. It consists of an exhaust fan that is controlled by a humidistat in metal enclosure that exhausts outside the space being ventilated. Air is drawn into the space from the living area, either heated or air conditioned. It does work. I built my own system using a 6 inch duct fan (with adapters) in a 4 inch duct connected to a clothes dryer duct hood set in the the sill plate. The fan is wired to a humidistat which is set a 50% humidity. air enters the duct at floor level, 1/2 way up and 3/4 way up to the fan. I installed two heater vents back to back through a wall that goes from the hallway to the cellar way. Works fine and cost me around a hundred bucks. Keep in mind that if you are pulling air from the living space and the windows are open on a humid day, nothing short of a humidifier will work.

I looked at it too. Seemed like it would be pretty easy to do myself. A couple of holes in the floor, covered with register covers and a well directed fan down below would do a lot of good.

My crawl space is sealed. My AC/heat run is in the crawl space. I know the ducts have a few leaks in them. I've never bothered to look for those leaks because the air can't escape the house and running either one drops the humidity in the crawl space.
