Our purchase yesterday

We went and celebrated an early Mother's Day yesterday...had a wonderful day even though we had snow/rain and a flat tire . We found these wheels & I fell in love with them but I'm not sure what they were used for....any info would be great!

45" across & the rims are 6" wide..they are double spoke.

They look like old manure spreader wheels. They were definately made to provide ground driven power for machinery!

look like tractor wheels, Ive got a set off of a old thresher.
2 are almost 3' (front) and the back are almost 4'.
same rim width and double spoked the hubs are different though cast and extend well beyond the wheel. I think for belts. not sure.
Yours are newer for sure.
Mine was for horse drawn use...
Yours look like they have bearings in the hub.

out of curiosity what did you folks pay for them , HappyYooper and Alice.

Manure spreader wagon wheels. Those notches you see are gears to drive the spreader.

Yep, manure spreader wheels, or possibly some other kind of ground driven implement.

To me they look like tractor tires, I remember seeing some like it at an antique tractor show.

Not at all like either of my old wooden horse drawn manure spreaders.
The wheels on them are not as aggressive and the hubs are all wrong.
My experience tells me those are most likely to from an old steel wheeled horse drawn sickle bar mower.
My John Deere #2 mower is on rubber but it also was available with steel wheels and the hubs are very right for that use.

Lots of old stuff around here.

They are not from a tractor, the spokes are too weak.

Manure spreader tho look a little small, sickle mower, tho look a little big.

Swather, or reaper, or corn cutter (had several different names, cut the whole stalk for fodder). Shocker. Several of these only had one drive wheel, not 2.....

Clearly ran an implement with the hub gears, and the traction cleats.

I have seen Amish sickle mowers with steel wheels that big.
The wheels shown are actually taller than the ones on either of my manure spreaders.
Agree not a tractor.

I ended up paying $100.00 for the pair. Not sure if this was too much but the way I look at it I love them and it was worth the $100.00. I've been trying find them on the internet as wagon wheels...I'll try the sickle mower wheels. Thank you guys for the help and congratulations Alice in TX/MO on your purchase!

We used to have a hay rake loader that was pulled with a pair of mules and it picked up the loose hay, carried it up and dropped it on a wagon that was pulled behind the rig and I was on the wagon with a pitchfork moving the loose around and packing it down, I was always o.k.with it until it picked up a snake and dropped it over that is pretty much what the wheels looked like on it and it went to about 12 ft or more high....

Wheels aren't from a mower, as all mower wheels were made of one piece cast iron.
Id have to go with the manure spreader idea,
