Massey Ferguson 128 baler...opinions/advice?

Thinking about buying a new ( new to me ) baler, guy selling a Massey 128 looks to be in very good shape. Not familiar with that make or model, anything I should know?

Massey balers were pretty good not New Holland legendary but they made bales! Currently MF is selling improved Hesston inline balers as their own (its all Agco now) So check out parts support, that may be the end of older machinery. Not that parts for older implements are easy to get in any colour!

I have had 2 of the MF 128 balers. Both performed admirably and gave minimal trouble. These balers tie a unique knot that is very strong. The first one was bought at an auction and later I was offered a very profitable price that I could not refuse. The second one I bought from a individual and used it until I ceased to make hay and I sold it to a member on this site. The new owner went into the horse hay business and the last I heard from him he was making a nice profit selling quality hay and he stated that the baler was a major asset to his operation. I have known others that owned the 128 and their comments on the baler were also positive. Provided the baler is not worn excessively I believe you will be satisfied.

do you have parts and service in your area, if so than you might do ok. the knoters are the only real technical stuff on them the rest anybody can service. the bigger massie's seam to do ok in this area but all the little bailers are john deere or new holland because thats what we have for dealers around here.

MF 124 and 128 had the simplest knotters ever there was.
Only 2 moving parts each side, only 1 grease fitting each.
Tied a sort of bow knot that didnot slip. I've baled 2 to 3
thousand bales between misses. Just tie one bale of twine
on to the next.
