Driving wellpoint into hillside spring

I have a couple springs or seeps that exit from the side of a sandhill on my land. I'm thinking that if I drive a wellpoint horizontally into the side of the hill just above where the water is coming out, perhaps I could get a small flow from the pipe. Not a lot, maybe just a pencil diameter but constant. If it tested clean, I could hang a cup from the pipe and have fresh water when I'm way back there. Anyone done this? Any ideas?

It is doable. In FL we can wash our own wells in for irrigation purposes. Never had it tested for potability. The water table is only 10 feet below grade at my hose.

Here is a link to a do it yourself site
http://www.drillyourownwell.com/background.htm

At least around here you can buy all the stuff at homedepot or lowes.

I would go vert but If I was going to do this Horz I would drive it a couple feet below where water comes out to avoid any fluctuations in the table heights

Hope it helps, Steven

May work, then again may not......
The problem I've found is that you do not know which direction the water is seeping or coming from; down from the upside of the hill, horizontally, or coming up from down below. So driving a well-point into the hillside will ?????? give you some exercise if nothing else.....

I agree with Steven, go in below the current outlet for a horizontal sand point. Another option would be to horizontal drill your own well. Check out you tube for clips of drilling you own water well. Use their techniques but drill horizontal rather than vertical.

dig it

sometimes you just have to dig it and figure out what works.........if you haven't watched it through a drought,,,may be wasting time.

I just dig them out, install the pipe and make a berm with dirt or clay, line that with concrete so the water goes into the pipe and fill with good washed river rock....James
