Glow in dark GMO sheep- would like one of these!

Not a big supporter of GMO anything- but this is interesting!

Will be interesting to see where this goes, would love to spin and make a hat from that fleece!

While glow in the dark would make counting them to go to sleep easier, if they were high intensity phosphorescent it would be like sleeping with the lights on

"The sheep were born in October 2012 and were immediate injected with the green protein."

Really? Is that how DNA manipulation happens? By injection after birth?

They apparently only glow in the presence of UV light. Get back to me when they are truly phosphorescent. Glowing blobs running around the front pasture would really get the neighbors talking.

Why just go for phosphorescent sheep? How about adding the gene from electric eels? Then you could rub two sheep together and charge your car's battery. Perhaps keep coyotes away from the sheep with their own on-board tazer.

Man, I would have loved having glowing sheep. Great at lambing, no more sneaking around with a weak flashlight in the middle of the night. Good grief is there no end to this silliness?

Little Bo Peep stated she had no use for GITD sheep "Leave them alone, and they'll come home, dragging their tails behind them!"

Little Boy Blue,
Come blow your horn,
The cows in the meadow,
The glow in the dark sheep in the GMO corn;
Where is that boy
Who looks after the glow in the dark sheep?
Under the haystack
Fast asleep.
Will you wake him?
Oh no, not I,
For if I do
He will surely cry.

If you want instant results just put some solar lawn light on them. Be careful where tou shove the little stake into the sheep.

As long as you are only going small scale with that project... because reproduction could be hazardous!!

just because something can be done does not mean that it should be done. this example SEEMS harmless all of this genetic manipulation could acidently result in somekind of monster unleashed on the population.

Correct. But just because a Lab or University was able to do it, doesn't mean it will ever be "unleashed".

As far as I'm concerned the "genetic" parts of this story are just a rumor.
I really don't see how they could "manipulate genes" by a simple protein injection, and it's the NEWS stories calling it "GMO".

We all know the media will LIE
Remember the reports last year about cows dying "from eating GMO grass"?
(When there WAS NONE?)
