Brick Work Replacement

My house sets over a crawl space. To get into it there is a hole in the foundation just big enough for a small person to belly crawl through. A hole is dug out of the dirt leading to it and then they had bricks lining that with a piece of tin covering over the top. The brick work has collapsed and now that is yet another place critters are getting into. I has to be replaced/fixed so wind and critters cannot get in.

I am not sure I have the skills to replace the bricks to make it wind proof. Is there a way to use any other material so it will hold the tin or some other material to close it up, yet be accessable if there is a need to get under there? It is about 2 1/2 feet wide and about the same front to back and then slops from a few inches to about 18 inches against the foundation. I wonder if quickcrete or something like that would work?

Yep, I live in fear each winter that the pipes might freeze. If they ever break, I have no idea who I will be able to get to go under there to fix them. My plumber just says he will NOT go under at all. I am so hoping we are past those temperatures for this winter.

Build a box from treated plywood, easy to cut abd insulate if you wanted/needed. Dig the area out install box and backfill with sand. The one on my house in town is a metal piece that looks like a galvanized water tank, 3 sides no bottom....James

Mine looked like this with a piece of plywood, 2 wedge shaped sides to put pitch on the plywwod and roofing shingles to shed water. No wall access door.

Plastic one to replace a rusted metal access.
