Anyone Like\Own Switch Blades ?
................I found 3 sources of "Italian" made Sb's ! They run the gamut pricewise depending upon model and length , from $20 up to $1,500 or more ! For whatever reason I've always 'Liked' how they look work mechanically . , fordy

I have a few that were in the $30 to $40 range, I just keep them in their box.

I like a heavier knife like some of the Ken Onion assisted opening designs. I don't think a switchblade would make a good work knife.

A friend gave me one. It sits on the table as a fancy envelope opener. One too many times of opening inside my pocket, and trying to get it out without castrating myself.

Last time I had one was as a Teenager. Older guy sold it to me for I think $5. Maybe less. It got took by a cop who was throwing into the back of his patrol car at a dance/fight, He asked us if we were carrying. I know NOW I coulda kept it, But I was scared, and my dad was a hundred feet away in his pk reading the paper waiting for me at 10 00. I also thought that, IF they DID frisk us down proper at the Police Station, and found it, it would be worse for me.

+1 for the Ken Onion Designs. I bought a Kershaw "Speedsafe Ken Onion Design about a year ago. Great knife. $50 at Walmart, or something like that. Saw it on Amazon for 5 buck less. THe assisted opening mechnism works extremly well.

I have a Kershaw ken Onion and it was my EDC knife until I got a Benchmade. I still love Kershaw products though. They're some of the best working man's knives on the market in my opinion.

Ha-ha, yeah right! Our family have used them on the farm forever. My grampa made mine. A work of art, more of a stiletto than a switchblade. Great for cutting twines on hay bales. My sister in Chicago still has her's. She fits right in!

I have a kershaw speedsafe too. the "needs work" version. Its not a switchblade and is certainly legal here. No button and you have to touch the blade (the back of it protruding through the handle) to flick it open. it is spring assisted. Great sharp blade, holds an edge well. Super for one handed operation

all swich blades I'v seen were such low quality .I soppose they were sold in Mexican tourist trap border towns as souviners . as a farm boy a extra good quality blade with made in usa on it was required to whittle or cut the strings off hay bales .

That's the good thing about certain professions. Military, LEOs and paramedics can carry automatic knives here.

I'm fairly certain you can buy switchblades in Oregon. I was at a truck stop that had all manner of eye raising weaponry. Switchblades, nunchaku, katana, throwing stars, caltrops, tasers, a claymore (sword), butterfly knives, brass knuckles of various types, a blowgun, you name it and they probably had it. I think I even saw manuals for AK-47 maintenance and home made booby traps. Interesting to say the least.

I never owned a switchblade knife in my life. Just never felt the need for one.
My old Dad gave me a CaseXX pocket knife, for a birthday gift many years ago. And, I lost it.
He gave me another one, along with a talking to. And I kept that one for years.
I have since lost or broke a couple more. But, I keep a couple spares in the gun safe.
I like CaseXX knives.

I've always liked butterfly knives over switchblades. Over the years I've had various qualities of both, but the butterfly knives never failed or tried to open on their own.

Pretty much everything that looks like a weapon is illegal here in NY. At least it feels like that, we have tough laws.

I love the lines of the nice older italian stelleto switchblades. I have a few in my collection. Like the pearl and stag handles. I carried one briefly as a teen, but moved on to stronger and better cutting designs. But the really nice INOX, Rostforris are beautiful. Your prices are about right. I bought most of mine from knife guys that are dealers at flea markets and gun shows.

DH has a handful of them, which are legal here in Idaho, some of which are expensive. He has a custom one with fossilized mammoth tusk scales on it (by Z. McCarty), an old Italian one, a Benchmade Ernest Emerson (which he loves), among others. He collects knives.
