Question Plants that Repel Box Elder Bugs?

It's that time of year again. I have a south-facing apartment and the war has begun. Every day there are hundreds on the fake-brick crevices sunning themselves.

Is there a plant that repels them? Obviously I could just spray soap and water daily, but then I get a bunch of dead bugs to clean up later.

I don't know, but I'm going to keep an eye on this thread as our new house has them too. Only INSIDE too. I'm tired of vacuuming them up.

I know it's completely irrational, but they terrify me. And my house's front door faces the south, so I go through a daily onslaught. Any ideas on how to repel then would be greatly appreciated!

Cut down the female trees and just leave the male trees. We had those bugs by the gazillions. There were 5 big Box Elders close to the house. We moved to another place that had two big ones in the yard. They make great shade trees. We never ad any bugs at the second place. We were told they don't bother male trees. Don't ask me how to tell the difference..

My understanding is that they feed on the seeds. No female trees, no seeds, no bugs.
