4 AM my mouth is bleeding

I just shot a BOBCAT. The recoil from my shotgun hit me in the mouth. I may have solved the peditor problem. The reason for no tracks is it was jumping tree to tree. Getting on top of the buildings and dropping down. I heard a meow and thought it was our mama cat. I bought a Brinkman q beam and turned it on and there it was. Mossberg 20 gauge with a pistol grip and a q beam in the other is a tough go. Do not place the shotgun ontop the q beam and fire.( this what could happen) DW woke up and want to know why I was layed out. I know what I am looking for after three years of feeding this critter the hunt is on. I need to wipe the blood from my mouth now.

I liked your post because I am relieved you are okay!!! Could have been much worse then a bloody mouth, so thankful for that. I hope your post prevents others from making that mistake, too. Congratulations on shooting that bobcat!

So, does that mean you didn't kill it?

Good story. Did you get it? If not, I'll bet your critters are still safe for a short while.

I think you must be related to my husband who broke his wrist shooting a squirrel after breaking his leg when he went fishing after breaking his pelvis, pubic bone, and ribs while mowing the grass along the ditch.

Yeah, those pistol grips will pop you in the mouth if you hold them up and try to get a bead on something. I got my bloody mouth shooting skeet with one...

I shot trap all summer with my new 870. Went duck hunting in the fall and loaded up 3 inch shells. A duck came over, I cheeked down on the stock, fired, and gave myself a bloody nose when my thumb hit my nose. I put a half inch of spacers under the recoil pad and have shot it for 40 years with no problems.

forgive me if I grin a bit. There is a reason shotguns are sold with a stock. I hope you have a dead kitty, but you definately have a good story to tell.

Gotta have a strong wrist before you attempt one handed shotgun shooting...

Glad you survived to continue the hunt!

Glad youve at least id ed the culprit - thats half the battle anyway.

I shot and missed one this past fall in poor light conditions as it was carrying one of my chickens away- ---- shotgun jammed and I couldnt get off a second shot. I was using single ought buck but have switched to # 4 buck and have the jammming problem corrected- had a slight defect in the chamber so I put a new barrel on it. Next time theres gonna be a bobcat or coyote hide to pay for my birds.

Sorry Dave, but I'm having a good chuckle over that one!!!!

Reminds me of when I was about 8 years old. I went home with my cousin after church one Sunday afternoon and we went squirrel hunting. After we got back he started letting me shoot different guns that he and his dad owned. I wanted so badly to shoot that great big double barrel 12 guage that his dad owned. He finally said "Okay, I'll let you shoot it" Well we went out to the back yard to shoot it and he asked me what I wanted to shoot at. I looked around and saw walnuts way up high in a tree and pointed one out. He handed me the shotgun which I could just barely shoulder and I aimed way up high at a walnut and squeezed one trigger. Bad, bad, bad, mistake! The stock slipped down off my shoulder and the barrel came back and cracked me right across the forehead. Left one heck of a knot on my forehead. But I had fun telling all the kids at school about it the next day.

Many years ago, DH's former BIL had bought a new rifle/scope and came over to show it off. So we went out back and he shot it a few times, then SIL shot it a few times, then I shot it a few times, but DH only shot it once...he put the scope right up against his eye and pulled the trigger.

He wore that shiner for almost two weeks!

One would think after 20+ years it would get old, but nah...so I remind him every once in a while just for giggles and chucks.

Didn't happen to me but to a fella I went to college with. He was slight builf and hunting with a double barrel shotgun. Ground was wet, clay type soil. Finally saw something to at least shoot at, got in prone position, pulled both triggers at the same time, and slid himself backwards in the mud a goodly distance.

You might want to delete your post, OP. Hunting season for furbearers in Arkansas ended in February.
