A Tick..During a Snow Storm ??

Must have hitched a ride from someone coming from the south. Found a tick on one of my cats tonight. It is snowing now..but figured possibly they are nice and warm either in the wood pile outside or even in hay from the barn. Or..is it global warming ??

The ticks were out a few weeks ago when we had a warmish weekend.(Southern Tier NY- climate close to yours) Don't know where they hide out. The deer are moving about now. I never saw a tick here until about 8-10 years ago. Global warming- maybe. Since then, so many people have been diagnosed with Lyme Disease in this area- including my daughter twice.

It was probably already in the house waiting to climb on a warm body.

Ticks don't die off during the winter, or hibernate. They very much can be active in the winter, especially on a warmish day.

Well, did it have boots, a hat, and an overcoat on? If so, it is probably a northern tick.
