Truck hunting ol blue went up in flames

Ol blue went up in smoke good old ford truck with 200,000 plus miles. So i need to find another one, my price range will have me looking at 1990's to early 2000's 3/4 or one ton four wheel drive, gas or diesel doesn't matter. Ford Chevy or Dodge would be my preference order, a 12 valve dodge would get consideration though. Any pit falls with trucks in this age range that should be avoided? It'll be used like a rented mule just like the last one.

............If you go to C's list and in the search area enter ** 19** dodge 3500 ** it will list all the one ton dodge trucks made in 1990 to 1999 , you'll have both gas and diesel but the list won't be to long . I usually specify 'Owner' only on the first search then you can search for both dealer and owner only OR dealer only ! , fordy

I would suggest a Chev 3/4 ton for the simple fact that that a gazillion of them were made and are still out there.

always sucks to lose an old friend like a good truck,I had an 87 Toyota with close to 400,000 when to many Michigan winters took it's toll on the frame,it looked like death warmed over but ran everyday, after 4 years and all that I still sold it for more than I paid.as far as buying another I'd look at the Ford and Dodge 3500's,I've worked at a GM dealer for 10 years and NO ONE ever trades these old dogs in on a New GM truck,in fact I don't think the new GM trucks are all that tough,I have been disappointed in mine but one thing I'll say for them the 5.3 L v8 is durable.but I don't think it's available in the 3500 or even the 2500.

Every brand has its own pros and cons. My personal choice would be a Cummins If you go diesel.

................The best 6 speed manual Dodge put in their 2500\3500 trucks started in late 2000 and ran thru the 2005 year model . You identify it by the reverse position , it's all the Way over to the right side and back I believe ! Very heavy duty trany . , fordy
