I don't know that I would say I have a LOT of experience. Some. The stuff I use lasts an impressively long time. Still takes and holds a "charge" as good as it did ten and fifteen years ago. Pretty impressive. What are you going to use it for?

I've got some around here somewhere. (Phosphorescent paints.) From when I was a kid, I remember that they drop off in brightness soon after being hit with a light, and the residual glow is much less. Over time, even that fades. Color is a pale yellow/green. Best use is for trail markers or guides. A spot on a light switch can be helpful.

The day-glo colors (which are not glow in the dark) glow under UV light. Some of them mix (orange/yellow) but some don't mix well and lose the glow when you do. I've done a few bits of art using them, like a Manhattan night scene and some posters. They used to be quite popular in the early 1970s.

My sister used the glow paint for stars on the ceiling in her apartment you can't see them untill the lights go off it's neat. I used some for my son's room made his fan have glow in the dark trators they are white yellow and green he loves it. Made letters for my sisters room over 20 years ago they still glow at night though not as bright,

Hm, I haven't used it in a hard-wearing application like that. Don't know how chip- or flake-resistant it is.

Like Harry, I haven't used them since my "hippy" days in the 60s and 70s, lol, did a lot of art work with them back then.

I did have a friend in the 80s who painted a little design on each of his tools with day-glo paint. It did fade after a while so not really noticeable during the daylight, but put them under a black light and they lit up like crazy! That's what he wanted, so the thieves wouldn't know they'd been marked, but he could prove it later.

Of course, that's still been 30 years ago, and I don't know how they might have changed over the years. My stepdad just used a metal stamp kit and tapped his initials into all of his tools. Good luck!

There's also glow-in-the-dark duct tape. Might hold up to scrapes and impacts better than the paint.

I painted my hand rail and steps out doors with it great. I have painted the emgency box and outlets, and such things I painted the rim right outside the main door and I painted the sump pump hole that should be covered but if it is note and it is dark we will see the openning. See it its dark much of the winter so walking around with a flashlight and having the glow in the dark paint makes life easier. Esp when we lose power --with out warning (rarly is there warning)

So Kasil, how well does the paint hold up in your weather, and do you have to redo it very often? If it holds up to your outdoor weather, it sure should be fine for tools, lol. Those are some good uses! Any special brand name or instructions for the OP or the rest of us? Thanks!
