Anyone familiar with this stove company?

http://www.woodandheat.com/

It is a nice looking little cookstove, but I'm always suspicious when something is sold at considerable less than the competition. Thought I'd ask if anybody has done business with them.

Never heard of it, but I would bet my last dollar it is chinese. It is made of "metal sheet" and you can cook "your favorite dishes". Chinese.

Look at the picture, look at the open door. More style than substance.

I'm very sure that I have seen Mike Callahan's photo before somewhere (pharmaceutics add?), and his name is that of a bartender in a science fiction series LOL!
I think the stove looks small. I'd be very reluctant without more reliable references.

I rhink it is smaller than you might think.
Also he has one on ebay for sale. They also sell a lot of Electric Flour Tortilla Press Makers.
Weight? Doesn't it seem odd that the weight wouldn't be included?

Looks like the air intake control is a round piece of sheet metal pop rivited to the sheet metal side of the fire box.

I wouldn't buy it. I wouldn't buy an antique wood cook stove. I'd buy a Baker's Choice, Pioneer Princess or An Elmira Sweetheart, all on sale at ebay right now, or an Elmira Oval.

The website owners are based in Mexico and there are multiple misspellings. Somethings fishy here. I would not do business with them. There is a reason its so cheap. Maybe a phishing site. maybe really small or really cheap quality. You usually get what you pay for.

This screams bad construction because they can't construct a couple of sentences in American English.

"It is also a beautiful decoration product. You can heat water within the water deposit that is integrated on one side of the stove."

Thanks. My vision is very poor and I missed a lot of those points on the web site. The product just seemed awfully cheap in comparison to other stoves on the market. Always makes me wonder why and how they can sell so cheap.

I'm afraid I'd have to agree with everyone----find a "real" stove somewhere. I got my Montag in wonderful shape for $200.00!!

Better to "recycle" an antique, and use it knowing that people have cooked on it for who knows how many years, and *everything* is cast iron!

Good luck in your search. I found mine on C/L, the key being to avoid the big cities, and find rural districts to check out.

Oh ... Callahan's Crosstime Saloon ... I thought I'd never see that reference!

Haha! Yeah, I'm reading the series. Right now I'm reading Lady Slings The Booze. I should have read it a decade and a half ago, but I got side tracked
