Need help with kitchen faucet!

I had my husband type it out because he is the one working on it. This all started with what we think were frozen pipes. Any help for us to get this back up and working would be great!
Here is hubby....

Ok...plumbing idiot here trying to repair a kitchen faucet that yada yada yada incurred some damage after some pipes froze and was in need of repair anyway. It is a single faucet and it looks like what I thought was a cartridge and I tried to pull it out with a cartridge puller...no luck. It seems like it is connected in another area. I did pull the little clip that holds it in place, but can not budge it. I am thinking maybe this needs to be disconnected beneath and I have very little space to work. Is this a cartridge in the pic or does it need to be detached from beneath. I do not see any immediate way to release unless it is the water connections that are holding it back. Any ideas will be appreciated. The dishes are piling up.

I belireve you have the gear shifter type faucet...This one looks like a Moen. Replacement cost around $14 at Home Depot. The cartridge, becomes stuck or rather well seated...I've in the past shot some "WD-40" in the seats and pulled straight up with a bit of wiggle to it....They can be quite troublesome and require a bit of muscle to put up...Stay with it...

You can take it off underneath and take it casing and all to Lowes. There should be a threaded attachment under it. Like FarmerTed implied, it sounds like it is seized to the case. There should be someone at Lowes, or Home Depot that can help you free it up, if you aren't comfortable freeing it up.

That is a Moen 1225 cartridge, once the retaining clip is removed, engage the two ears of the puller into the slots of the cartridge. The cartridge must first be gently turned left and right to free it up, then holding the t-handle of puller in place, turn the nut of the puller down against the faucet housing, and the cartridge will pull out. The center or the cartridge will pull out, if you do not loosen it first, making it unrepairable. The 1225 cartridge, once installed can reverse the hot and cold, if this happens just turn stem, not the whole cartridge 180 degrees and it will be right. Hope this helps, I have repaired hundreds of these faucets in 27 years as plumber

Here's some videos that helped me when I replaced the cartridge in my shower.

Replacing shower valve in place

When I did mine Home Depot didn't offer any kind of free replacement. I bought an off brand cartridge that leaked so I called Moen and they sent me a free replacement. Then I took the defective one back to HD.

Wild, here HD swaps them out with a smile right away! I gotta say I like the Home Depot staffing here, happy and helpful people make a world of difference. Lowes is OK but not Rona at all. Terrible place.
