Rubber Boot Patch

Not sure where to put this question but anyone here got a good patch idea for rubber boots? I have a pair less than three years old and one has a small hole where the toes bend. I hate to throw them away. I have tried duct tape, bicycle patch, silicone chaulk and epoxy. No luck for any amount of time.

Anyone got any other suggestions that have worked for them?

I cut open my rubber boots on a piece of tin roof. I repaired it with super glue. This was several years ago and it's still holding strong. It was a fresh clean cut not "worn" so it may not work for you tho.

If you have something like a Cabela's or Bass Pro Shop around, go there and get a repair kit for rubber waders or a repair kit for a rubber raft, should work on your boots.

You could also use gasket sealer.
My boy wears a hole in his toe every year from pitching, I layed a thin coat of gasket sealer and a rubber patch, went around the edges to seal it, it worked, saved me from having to by new cleats in the fall season.

Silicone is actually pretty poor for those type of uses. Works better for sealing rigid non-permeable items. [like metal to glass]

Yep! That was what I was going to say. Meijer's has it in the area that has silicone (or silicon, whichever) sealant and such.

Thanks, everyone! I'll try the shoe goo first. Never thought about gasket sealer but sounds like a good idea if the shoe goo doesn't work. I tried super glue. Didn't work for me and it was a new hole when I tried it. I tried bike tire patch. Anyway, thanks again! Just trying to save a few dollars.

If you can get the boot clean enough, contact cement and a patch will work pretty good. Depends on the boot material and cement.
