An unusually warm winter
The Chickasaw Plum produces a cherry sized plum, very sour until just the right moment of ripeness when they will instantly disappear because wildlife love them. Some commercial plum orchards use the Chickasaw as a pollinator because it produces so much more pollen.
Basically, I'm just an evil person and want to make you folks feel all that much colder. These were taken today on the farm. But if it makes you feel better, these flowers are probably going to be for naught when a frost happens in Feb.

It's about average here. Today may have been a little warmer, but most days are cold enough. As long as the weather is cold enough to run the wood stove and not make the house unbearably hot, I figure it's a good winter day or night. We even had an ice storm last week.
It doesn't make me happy to know those buds will likely never equal a plum. The trees look good, however.

LOL! So you're rubbing it in, eh? Yes it's COLD here today; right now my thermometer says 13 above, and it's blowing 20+mph winds. I know some folks have it colder, and you clearly have it warmer, so I'm content being in the middle. I sure do enjoy looking at the pretty tree though! I love to see stuff like that. Course this time of year I consider a good seed catalog to be eye candy, too.

It has been bouncing all over the place here.
One morning its 20*, next day its 60*.... poor plants and animals don't know what they should be doing.
Glad I have chickens running around the house, think the ticks are going to be really bad this spring.

Evil...enjoy them while you can! They do look nice.
I would call this an average winter at this point temperature wise and below average precip wise. Although there have been some above average daytime highs.

Coldest winter here in Arizona in 20 years!!
It's been down to -4 where I live. Now it's a sweet 16, but little snow. I guess we'll have another year of drought.

It's 68 degrees here in Michigan, and my space heater is struggling to bring it back up to 72. Getting lake effect snow outside.........

we just had our 3rd January thaw..that went from nice and warm to below zero.
yesterday we had upper 30's and now we are in the teens..last week we had near 60..hopefully no buds had begun to open..
we also have had some flooding from all the thawing..

It is currently 70* here today.
Which, in spite of the fact that I live in the deep South, is * unseasonably* warm for mid-January. It *should* be in the mid-50's.
We have had lots of rain this winter...but if it stops now, it will be bad. Winters here are supposed to be a mud-bath through February.
I'm going to start seeds tomorrow.

that's the great thing about most of Florida, it gets in the low 90s with high humidity (just like i like it), but never as hot and humid as most of the south. DC is a killer in August.

Very cold winter here, with the odd warmish spell, warmish meaning -10 C. Todays it is minus 29 C with a windchill of -46 C. Waiting on the climate change. Wishing for the climate change.

Temps in sw corner of BC have been hovering right around 0 C for a month and it's fogged in here. No snow, not much rain. Oddly enough there are a few hardy roses have rosebuds opening up on them and my potted trailing rosemary bush outside has been flowering steadily through winter. Anna's Hummingbirds which are year round residents here and never migrate are hanging around taking nectar from the rosemary flowers.
