Gas Fireplace?

Ok the New House has a Fireplace has a Insert that was converted over to Ventless Gas Log.I lit it but it wasn't putting out any heat.

Thinking of pulling it out having it all checked out for $200 and changing it back to wood.

Thoughts. Is this the best way to go?

Had to do some work on the Vents but got the Furnace where it is heating Good but thinking of putting a Ventless Heater in the room with the Fireplace,it's suppose to heat 1,000 Sq.Ft. Thinking of putting a Wood Heater towards the back of the house but some say this is not needed It's like this I like keeping very warm but don't want to break the Bank doing it.

Unless you have ceiling fans, all the heat is staying near the top of the rooms.

A VENTLESS heater puts ALL the heat into the room
It's possible the INSERT was vented, and the flue is still open

After Dad died I tried converting Mom's fireplace over to gas because Mom didnt want to deal with the mess, it was 28,000 btu unit and wouldnt even kick on the blower, just wouldnt put out enough heat. So I switched it back, and she added a couple of ventless heaters and only burns wood when its really cold and so far pretty happy with the arrangement,

Have Fans. The Flue was closed. The Ventless heaters have Blowers,we've used them before.

Think about converting to a fireplace insert-they can be bought used reasonable. We put a insert in our wood foreplace 20+ years ago, it heats my 1700' house, and hasnt the slightest burnout. I'm using the gas furnace cause of health right now, and its cold compared to my wood. With the setup I saw in your pictures, someone (read, your son?) could fill that wood storage spot, and last you all week, with all you having to do is put wood in fire twice a day.

This house had a wood burning fireplace and it was changed to gas. So far as I can see it is useless to me. If electric is off the furance will not work and neither will the fireplace far as I can see. I do not know if it draws out warm air up the flue or not. I set the couch in front of it. I presume it has electronic starter as you push the buttons it to use. I have never used in the year I have been here. I would rather have one I could burn stuff in. As not my house I can not change it back. Here I donot have my own wood supply either so probably would not use it much if wood. But if electric was off could have a little heat that way. This way none. She never asked if wanted it changed.
