Where can I get wide belt pulleys
I need a tightener pulley. Its the one on some garden tractors, kool karts, mowers, that, when the belt is loose between engine and drive wheels/ect, that by moving a lever it causes the pulley to come against the back side of the belt tightening it against the engine V belt pulley
So far ive checked
#1 A catalog that has the name tools in it
#2 TSC Catalog
#3 Steiner Catalog
#4 Atwoods, a local hardware chain with a 1/2 doz stores
#5 Ace Hardware

Check with a dealer that sells the garden tractors, etc that you mentioned and see if you can get a used one from the scrap pile or order a new one. A lawn mower repair place might have one.

I've had good luck with Oscar Wilson Engines & Parts (oscar-wilson.com) for some hard-to-find parts.

bja I opened your tsc page. There all way smaller than the one IO have. Im needing one around between 6&8 in dia.. Ive tried different belts, and it amazes me that one size is too big, and the engine pulley just slides around the belt when engaged, and the nest size smaller, I can just get over the center hub of the V belt pulley TIGHT..
It has to be loose so that I have a nutrual. It engages forward when I pull the lever which raises the ideler pulley up from the bottom against the back of the V belt in between the engine and the drive pulley on the wheel.

If you are using it as a tightener why does it have a size requirement? Seems to me you could use any size just build your tensioner around the pulley size you pick.

A tightener really does not tighten any belt That much. It just keeps it tight and not really is used to make up space for a belt that maybe somewhat longer. There is not that much "Give And Take"
Just like the "serpentine Belt" on cars today it is there ONLY to keep it tight as it wears some. But not enough to take up any space that is not for the correct belt.
Same thing for any "tightener" that is on mowers etc.

Yep I knew that, still don't see what it matters except space constraints.

Yes CR Theres several ways I could go, but just dont want to. I could build up the arm that holds the pulley. Ive adjusted it all I can. I could build a base plate, BUT, hopefully I could find either the right belt, or the right pulley to do the job.

You are aware that a new belt is probably a lot cheaper than a new pulley of the size you are looking for?
I have never seen a tightner/tensioner pulley that large (6"-8") except on farm machinery.

Okie, U are aware that I stated I had tried a belt that was too big and didnt engage the engine pulley when the ideler pulley was raised against the belt, Then I tried the next size smaller and it would just go over the outside of the V belt pulley on the outside TIGHT??
