Need Remington 1100 barrel,where to look ?

I have a Remington 1100 in 12 gauge magnum with full choke . The barrel is chambered for 2 3/4" and 3" shells . I am looking for a barrel chambered for 2 3/4" only .Just wondering if anyone would have sources they would recommend to start my search ? Ideally I would love to trade my barrel or sell mine to recoup my costs on the 2 3/4" chambered barrel. Thanks for any help.

Brownells probably has them too.

Personally, I would avoid Cheaper than Dirt after the profiteering they have been doing lately

Gunparts will have used parts. They have also been known as Numrich Arms. No one will currently make a 2 3/4" bbl nhttp://www.gunpartscorp.com/ew.

Why do you want a new barrell? The one you have will accept 2 3/4 inch shells or 3 inch.

Do you want a barrell that will only accept 2 3/4 inch because that's all your reciever can handle? If that's the case, you need to know that a barrell that is set up for 2 3/4 inch shells will chamber and fire 3 inch as well. It's just that the slot in the reciever is not long enough to eject the fired hull. You have to be careful to ONLY use 2 3/4 inch shells if that's what the reciever can handle. It could damage the barrell to fire a 3 inch shell in a barrell that is only chambered for 2 3/4 inch because the extra length of the opened hull constricts the forcing cone a bit.

Do you want interchangeable chokes? This is a valid reason to buy a replacement barrell but the new barrells costs almost as much as the cheap version of a whole new gun. Your best bet is to check with pawn shops and gun shops for a used barrell.

Thanks for the info everyone .

The reason I want a 2 3/4 "chambered barrel is for two reasons. I am hoping for a Rem-Choke barrel,or modified choke . The main reason ,I want the 2 gas ports of a 2 3/4" barrel compared to the 1 port of of the 3" barrel. This way I can use cheaper shells(lower powered) and get more reliable ejection . The magnum barrel is very picky with low base and low power shells . My days of using 3" shells is over . I don't hunt turkeys or waterfowl anymore ,so a 2 3/4"chambered barrel is just fine .

They do make a 28" barrell with vent rib, 2 3/4 inch chamber, and Rem chokes. It's about $225 at Cheaper Than Dirt.

A good used barrell will save you some bucks. You might find one with the Rem chokes. There will be a good selection of fixed modified barrells.

I have shot an 870 all my life. I can get it on my shoulder, taking the safety off as it comes up, swing with the target, get the sight picture, and fire without any conscious thought except if the shot is safe. It comes in very handy when the grouse only gives you a split second opportunity. I am getting older so I bought a used 1100 with a 28 inch, vent rib, barrell and fixed modified choke. It handels exactly like the 870 but less recoil. It was $300 at the pawn shop and is in almost new condition. You might check the used guns too.
