Online source for 44 Russian ammo

Does anyone know of a good online source? My father has an old German revolver and no one locally carries it.

You are likely going to have to find someone who reloads.

Thanks! The local gun shop said the same thing about fnding a reloader, but I figured someone here would know for sure. I'm familiar with cheaperthandirt, but haven't heard of the other two before.

Hang on to your empty brass after shooting, you never know when you might get into reloading. 44 Russian brass isn't carried at most reloading shops, and cutting down 44 mag/spl brass is no one's idea of fun. Nice thing is that there are plenty of commercial cast bullets intended for 44 mag/spl that would probably work well the 44 Russian.

That's great advice, thanks. I've never shot it myself. I wonder how much kick this thing has to it.

Not much at all.
It's a low powered round

Don't despise it though. It's a relatively low velocity round, but it throws a big heavy lump of lead. A standard .44 Russian round has comfortably more muzzle energy than .38 Special +P.

You might also look at whether you have any cowboy action/Western action recreators in your area. It's a fair chance that some of them would be able to give you info about sources of .44 Russian ammunition. They tend to go for low-energy low-recoil rounds though - enough to go bang, but their competitions are mostly about accuracy rather than power. I don't know, but maybe that would suit your purposes for your father's old revolver.

My Dad wants the ammo, not me. As far as I know, he's never fired a real gun in his life. He did have a BB pistol when we were kids, but that's it. We weren't even allowed toy guns as kids because he thought it was dangerous.

Thanks for the comparison to the 38 special. That's actually the only type of handgun I've used.
