cork flooring?

Does anyone have any experience with it? I am thinking of using it in my kitchen.

I have cork flooring in my kitchen. It is tongue and groove and installed pretty easily. I like that it is comfortable underfoot and is "softer" than tile. There are a couple of spots where the edges are coming up (after 10 years), but it's hard to keep the dog water bowl areas completely dry. I find it washes up well, and the pattern hids dirt better

I don't remember the cost, I'm afraid but we are pretty frugal. It was much less expensive. Thanks ceramic tile and comparable to linoleum or similar flooring. We did buy it on sale. Maybe watch the flyers for the larger home improvement stores if you have some in your area?

We haven't used it, but have done quite a bit of research before deciding to go with it when we're ready to replace our flooring. It'll be a big project for us. We're planning on doing our entire main floor, minus the bathroom. We'll be doing it as soon as we're able to save up the money.

I have big dogs and was told that they would damage the cork, so take that into consideration.

A friend with a standard poodle and a labradoodle did a cork floor kitchen about 5 years ago. It looks great. I'm thinking about using it and he highly recommended it. I like the look and feel under foot both for the slight cushioning and it isn't so cold on bare feet like tile is

This is very good to know. I have tile in my entry way of the kitchen. I have put down those interlocking rubber mat things, because the floor is so slippery. I will put down cork ontop of it asap! I care about my dogs hips, and haveing them do the splits is not good for hip health.

We had cork floors in our first home 45 years ago and liked them so well we put cork in the kitchen and family room of our current home. They have stood up well to major use including pets.
It is comfortable to walk on and warm under foot over an unheated crawlspace in eastern Canada.

Todays cork floors are pretty much the same as all the other laminate floors out there. So they have the same problems. They are put on pressed board cores so you can lock them together. So even though cork is very water resistant these floors are not because of the pressed board. Years ago cork came in rolls and we put it down like Linoleum. It was a much better product. So keep the water off of it and realize it is pretty soft, so fairly easily damaged, and if you like the look you will be happy with it.
By the way I own a flooring store, and have been in the business about 40 years. Good luck with your floors.
