O/T: National Farm Machinery Show; Louisville KY: Anyone Attend?

Hi; forum newbie here. I hope I selected the right area for this post.

I am thinking of attending the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville next month. I'm a wanna-be farmer, and would like to hear from folks who have previously attended this event. I have attended the Sunbelt Ag Expo in GA the last two years, and enjoyed it very much. I am hoping to experience the same with this event.

Any suggestions on where to stay (even in general terms) would be appreciated. I'll be traveling solo, so as long as it is safe, almost anything will do.

Thanks!

Amazing event if your into farming...its been 25 years since i last attended but i intend to isit this year as i have re-entered the farming community...
the last time i was there(25)yrs...the event was heavily bent in row crop displays as a whole... but im guessing as homesteading has become so popular that many a vendor will be there to develop this market as well...
as far as where to stay..... I do not know...we make a day trip of it since i live in state,...you will be amazed if you go...

I go every year. This is what we do to celebrate Valentine's Day. There's plenty of iron there every year. Walter T. Kelly will have a booth there, though. There will be plenty of hand tools, but it's mostly geared towards commercial Ag.

Ellie from Got Flax will be there. I bring a rolling suitcase so I can buy there and save on shipping.

Bring your EARPLUGS, in case the tractor pull is going on. Wear comfortable shoes! You'll be spending a lot of time walking on concrete.

Have fun!

Rick,

I attended a few years ago. Overall, it was fun, but I doubt that I'll ever go back.

I'm a small time farmer in Middle Tennessee (150 acres of hilly ground with 45 head of black Angus cattle). The show that I attended was clearly aimed at big-time row croppers. I could barely afford a cup of coffee let alone any of the mega-buck equipment that they were showing.

It would be more productive to me to spend the day walking through a local equipment dealers lot than to look at stuff that I clearly will never be able to afford.

Good luck. Have fun. It's worth at least one visit.

I agree with Tom. Lots of walking. Was stiff/layed up for a week. Went with son, he loved it. I would say with the whole row crop thingy so big, so will be the show.

For everyone that doesn't know, it's Feb 13-16th. http://www.farmmachineryshow.org/

It is a good time. It's mostly geared for commercial farmers, but it's still fun to walk around and dream. There's still plenty of knowledge for us little guys too. Just take a big bag, there are usually a lot of freebies.

I live in Louisville and I doubt if you will find vacancies at any hotels in the city. This is a HUGE event and I would assume all the hotel rooms were reserved many months ago. You might try finding a room in a nearby county that's near Jefferson County.
