Yet another GMO thread, with POLL!

I got a private message with a wonderful suggestion that since I am good with words and can make polls, I should make a GMO poll. I shall not share the name of the person who suggested it to protect the guilty. However, the idea tickled me SO much, here it is!

~laughs~ It takes a lot more that a bunch of mono-topic threads to tick me off. *I* thought it was a FUNNY suggestion!

I just find it funny. This is one WEIRD forum.

I've been a part of many. This is the first one where half of the conversation in a thread relates to how inane or stupid the thread is to begin with. I've never seen such complaints in a message board. It might be the first with widespread shushing that I've ever encountered.

Do a poll to determine who has vested interests in GMO companies. Some here act as if they have a lot to lose .

I always read the debates on GMO's.

Honestly, the *idea* scares me, but I also see how it is beneficial.
So I am a fence-sitter still.

Anyone who is tired of the threads could do what I get told to do on topics that I dislike: "Dont read them".

I know, that doesn't work for me either.
But feel free to sit out a round or two if you are feeling battered.
The most vocal of the posters have made their views known already.

Maybe if someone starts a new GMO thread every single day, folks will get bored of the topic?

How about a poll on the IQ of the GMO protesters? Offensive? You Bet! Like looking in a mirror isn't it?

You left out an option:

"I'm against GMOs and no longer entertained by bullies who discount ANY evidence from ANY source that is not from the makers of the GMO food like product-as nothing matters to them but touting their love of the land and the lack of effort required in which they can kill weeds and rack up lots of money from Frankenfoodlikeproducts that are then sold, processed and presented en masse to the public under the impression that it is healthy."

Or something along those lines ....

By calling people "bullies" you are putting yourself in a position of claiming to be less powerful than people who having opposing viewpoints from yours.
Is that truly your belief with your repetition of the phrase "GMO bullies"?

This isn't the elementary school playground and I have yet to see anyone force feed you GMO corn chips or give you a swirly for not doing it.

Finding the truth from either side is kinda like figuring out which politician is lying isn't it? It's hard to base a decision on any info cause one conflicts the other n that one an back n forth. 50 years will really be the true debate when your watching late night tv n tv asks u have u or a loved experienced health problems due to gmo call this number there a class action suit. With the information that's out there I have to just go on my beliefs n not take into any account of the so called facts that I read.

My point in referring to them as bullies is to call attention to the personal attacks and refusal to consider any information source that is not bought and paid for by the companies creating the seeds/chemicals and the gov't who is in bed with them.

It's the same select few who stand in lockstep and parrot back the same rhetoric - yet refuse to admit that NO REAL STUDIES are being done to ensure these food like products are not unsafe - and refuse to admit the reasons behind it.

They gang up, sling condesending remarks and --very much like the way liberals "discuss" politics, push any voice of decent into a corner with nothing more than "your source is invalid".

While that does NOT make me weaker - or willing to eat GMO corn chips - it is a direct reflection on these supporters. I see zero redeeming behavior from these folks, yet the occasional underhanded snarky sideways, "Well you seemed like a logical young lady until you opened your mouth" which is meant to buffer their attacks - so no one can point the finger in their direction with any ill will.

Define them how you'd like. I will continue to call those who behave that way "bullies".

I am against GMOs.
More because of the reasons behind it (corporate profits) and the abject failures of so many of them. (Glyophosphate resistant weeds = not awesome, the rice that was supposed be be a life saver, but was actually lower in nutrients, sucked up resources from the soil etc..)
I hate the fact that the corporations are self-regulating for the most part.
No entity with that much power to do terrible harm should just be set free to wander. Think of them like a troop of toddlers with flame throwers. Sure.. they might kill a weed now and then but crikey-mike.. the damage.

And I really, really hate the patenting of living things and the steamrolling over farmers that have their organic, non-GMO crops ruined.
It takes away our choice to grow what we choose to grow.
Pollen travels, man.

And if GMOs were no big deal, then why would the companies that make and use them fight so hard adn spend so many millions upon millions to keep food labels from listing them??
Aren't they proud of their products?
And if GMOs weren't bad (or pesticides or chemical fertilizers) then why do the big corporations only serve organic, certified GMO free foods??
See.. that last one is a kicker for me. They won't even eat it themselves.

And I hate the debates, but if someone learns something useful, then we need to keep debating. If someone googles a notion that they have picked up here and learns something new..then, Amen.

Well okay then.
I will look forward to hearing you sling that phrase some more.
If it helps you feel validated that others are agressively 'bullying' you, and that you are just a 'little lady'? Then have at it.

Pretty Paisley, it seems like you want them to prove a negative. Exactly how do you do this?
