Free Kindle book about NAIS

First They Came for the Cows: An Activist's Story [Kindle Edition]
Sharon Zecchinelli (Author)

This Kindle book is free today. My farming friends and anyone who cares about government interference in agriculture should read this.

First They Came for the Cows is a fictionalized account of one woman's activism against the National Animal Identification System (NAIS). From the first moment she learns about NAIS, her life changed as God used her to join with others to fight against the USDA and their industrialized agriculture business partners.

I don’t understand why anyone would want to expand their belief in the NAIS myth. Seems there is enough fiction in the noNAIS.com web site.
Writing a fictional book on a topic that has a history of wild claims and misinformation, seems like it would perpetuate the myths and unfairly characterize the USDA.
But, I guess it wouldn’t threaten the existing beliefs of the no-NAIS group. I guess a NAIS book filled with truth wouldn’t be very exciting.
Might be a good read for some.

I just read the reviews and it is clear the readers are believing this fictional story. http://www.amazon.com/First-They-Cam...owViewpoints=0

Sad, really, really sad.

It's not a myth, according to the USDA. And haypoint, the web site you want is:

http://NoNAIS.org/

It ends in .org, not .com.

There are tons of misinformation on NAIS. Much is in the noNAIS.org web site. To get a slice of the nonsence that is held as fact by the noNAIS bunch, please read the comments in the book reviews. They want to believe her fiction/myth.

Just scanned the wiki. There may be a 6th Amendment Equal Protection claim based on the cost of tagging: corp. farm v. small farms? Somebody get an attorney on that, let us know how it goes

Your lies aren't necessary, haypoint. No need for you to be an apologist for Big Ag. They do a right fine job of lying for themselves.

No you sure don't want to take info from a site like that as the truth. So much misinformation on there is has been laughable now for years.

What used to be called propaganda, is now call fictional literature.

Either term, the results will be the same.

Quote:
The protagonist, Maddie Gillman, turns activist when she and her husband, the new owners of a homestead, encounter NAIS, a well-funded USDA program that is designed to become mandatory, then touted to be voluntary “at the Federal level”, while the USDA pressures States and livestock groups to roll their members into the program without their knowledge or consent. Maddie and her fellow activists are outraged with the deception and probable consequences of the program, and appalled to discover the ties between those in government and the industrialized agriculture corporate beneficiaries of the program.
Quote:
“This is a great book for explaining to people the decline and corruption of the USDA,” wrote one reviewer on Amazon.
Heres the rub.

Quote:
This 2nd edition of *First** They Came for the Cows* on Kindle unexpectedly* *becomes available at exactly the same time as USDA’s final rule establishing general regulations under the guise of “Animal Disease Traceability Framework” December 28th.

The book was written by someone who has first-hand experience with NAIS, and although it was written as fiction, it's based on personal experience.

Those who are naysaying the book without even reading it are only proving (once again) their bias, their ignorance, and their backers.

People are allowed to put their kindle books up for free for only five days. Doing this boosts sales, which then boosts the books rating. So, get the book today rather than waiting, in order to put it up higher (and be seen by more people).

Thanks for the heads up. It's just been downloaded.

Understanding it's fiction, based on a true story - I have no doubt it will give me a different perspective and food for thought. All I want a book to do.
