Fordy - I have an oil lease question

I figure asking you this question would be a lot simpler than sifting through mountains of web searches. If anyone else knows the answer please jump in.

I'm looking for a way to access the oil & gas lease information for NM and Texas. The information I want needs to contain the company name, the lease name, and the gps information for the site. I need to be able to download that data or access it as an API.

I know this is out there, because it's public data, but it may be buried under layers of bureaucracy to make it more difficult for us peons to find. I have the NM OCD website but haven't delved into how to actually get to the data behind the page. I'll keep searching but thought maybe you could at least point me somewhere close.

Thank you.

................Let me ask my Brother as he knows a lot more this than what I do ! In Tx county records have been and Are being scanned into data bases by For profit companies who will charge for using accessing their info . I don't think all counties are having this done so it varies by county .
.................In NM you have both Federal lease records as well as state and county records . I'll try to findout something and get back to you . , fordy

To search Tx records, go to http://webapps.rrc.state.tx.us/DP/in...QueryAction.do
Unless your in the O&G business, you'll have to wait till 11AM CST.

You can find all of Tx records on this site...

Any particular Unit your looking for? County and Company will get you close, API will nail it.
TxMex likes this.

Thank you, both. There's no particular company or lease. We're trying to find a way to access all of them, including their gps location. We have a way to search by those three things, just no way, at this time, to access the complete list of data from the state or local records, without physically entering the gps location one at a time.

Texican, what did you mean about API nailing it? You mean having an API to look at the records, or is there an API that DOES let you get to the records? And if there is an API for this, do you know where to find it? Who offers it? We don't have one.

Thank you both, again.

Texican, I know now what type API you were talking about. I was thinking software API, not the one that identifies the well.

I think I'll have to keep looking. So far, I've not come across exactly what I need.

Thank you both, again, for helping.
