Burlap Sacks

Does anyone know where I can pick-up Burlap Sacks? I don't seem to ever recall seeing them around here for anything. Thanks.

The plastic ones are all I have seen for years. They must cost much less to make.

They ship Coffee in them. If you know someone that moves new semi trucks they can probably get you some they bag up their extra equipment in them for shipping. Or you might be able to find some extras at a new truck dealer, go to the area where they take the stacks of trucks apart, there is usually a big overhead hoist there and see if any extras have been left there.

I bought a bunch for 50 cents a piece at Menards a couple years back. They got mulch or something in them but repackaged them before they sold it & then would sell the burlap bags for cheap.

If you have a Menards close I would check with them. I got mine in the fall so they could still have some hanging around in the back.

burlap

Around here they still put onions in them so when it's harvest time, we keep an eye out for them along the road and usually find some.

I feel your pain! I grew up out west where burlap sacks were everywhere, but havent seen more than a few since I moved to Kentucky. The few I have gotten hold of didnt last long, they dont do well with all the moisture here.

Doesn't take much moisture to rot a hole in a bag. Plus mice eat through them. After you've puckered and whip stiched a few places in a burlap bag, they become hard to handle.
Moisture doesn't bother the plastic feed bags, but sunlight raises holy heck on them.

Why are you needing burlap bags, anyway.

Around here the feed stores often have new burlap sacks for sale - I guess for decorating or something. Two sizes and brand new. You might ask your local animal feed store/mill for them.

Lehman's sells them online. http://non-electric.lehmans.com/search#w=burlap%20sacks

We sell them at the feed & grain company I work for. If you really need some give me a holler and maybe we can work something out

Where can I get a few yards of burlap? Hubby needs it for his project car to hold his seat springs in place while he gets the leather on the seats themselves. I can cut up a few bags, but would be better to get the yardage I would think.

Our local Big R (kind of a farm and ranch/sporting goods store) carries them and JoAnn Fabrics carries the yardage.

I don't understand it. They used to be so plentiful when I was a kid that people threw them away.

Just odd and end stuff. Potato sack races at family reunions, root stock, bushcraft chairs etc....
