Bow saw blades
Does any one know where I can get a new 42" blade for my bow saw? I have been unsuccessful finding one using Google.
Thanks

bow saw blades in
Tools | eBay
Would it be feasible to use a 36 inch blade which is more available by making an adapter for the remaining 6 inches? Could a short blade be cut and riveted to a 36 inch blade then mounted in the large saw you have? I doubt that a full stroke utilizing the full 42 inches of the bow saw would be a common stroke at one end of the saw length.

How wide is the blade. Depending on what you have a round you you may be able to find someone that uses 1//2 to 2" band saw blades and make your own.. Th other thing I do is have my sharpen guy cut teeth on both sides. Sometimes different like and 8 and 12

Here are some links that maybe helpful:
Classified
Mercier Racing Saws
The first link goes to a page of different suppliers. In the box, pick on BOW SAW AND CROSS CUT BLADES. This will take you to the a page where you can pick on PRODUCTS. This will take you to the 2nd link, ( or you can just go to the 2nd link I provided). Pick on the CONTACT button. It is a Canadian company. I see the links show up different, but do the same thing.

Good idea. If I cannot find 42" blades, I may have to resort to this idea. Or, cut a section out of the bow saw weld it back together thereby making it shorter.

Good idea, but I am not aware of any bandsaw blades that are coarse enough to make quick work of sawing fresh oak limbs by hand.

Thanks! I sent an email to Mercer racing saws. It appears they may have several types of 42" blades.

Not the answer you want, (kinda like when I just wanted to replace a tire and everyone told me to buy a new wheel with a new tire already mounted), but a good new 36" saw only runs $35 with shipping.

I have an old bow saw from my grandfather that measures 47" pin to pin. the bow itself is adjustable 44" to 54" . If a 42" is hard to find i'll never find one for this one. guess i can make an extender for a 42"

I did get my 42" bow saw blades, but it took a while. First, I emailed the manufacturer in Sweden. They told me there is no retailer in the USA for their blades but to try a wholesaler in BC, Canada. I contacted the Canadian wholesaler and was told they'd sell me 10. Really! 10! That would last several life times. The wholesaler relinquished and offered to sell me a minimum of two at $8.95 each plus shipping. Yeah!

Have a link to the Canadian site?
Would be nice to have a quality bowsaw... the few I've had were junk, and reckon they soured me on bow's. Have several cross cuts, but haven't actually 'worked' em.

The blades are quality Swedish steel blades made by G-Man

You should have bought the 10 blades, and resold them here on HT.

I actually thought of doing that and reselling on Ebay, too. But I have so many things that have been sitting around here for months that I want to put on Ebay that I just didn't want to add to the pile.
