They are in Tennessee.. that explains it..

Now if it was in WV, it would probably be a group of 1....

That is funny.

I would take it as getting a total of 10 pelts ( a pair is 2, of 5 = 2x5=10) but I know they didn't get it right...

They also mention '1 item' so it totally messes up the thing, are you getting one, a pair, 5, or 10?

Don't think they made it to algebra.

If your jeans were only one they would be singular. ie, you would be wearing a jean.

Jeans, trousers, pants, slacks, or shorts.........
All are "singular pairs". One of the idiosyncracies of our English language, I guess.
