THat tractor wouldnt last 2 hours around here with a front end loader on it. It'd be bought up pronto.

The 3000 series tractors are work horses and will run forever with just a little care. Diesel is better, but gas will too.

Don't some of the industrial tractors lack a PTO?

Yeah, but this one has a shredder on back, so I would think it has pto.

Sorry yes it has PTO and 3PH.
Has the dual range transmission I am guessing.

The seller is listing it as a 3550,but I don't think it is as I don't believe there were gas engined models.

If anyone else knows more or knows exactly what model it is it would be appreciated.

Personally I would pass. This is a old tractor with a gas engine. A gas engine could be worn out at the age of this tractor. Industrial tractors often were used in applications where the air was filthy and caused wear on the engine. The ground clearance under the differential is inadequate and will hang on stumps and terraces. Does this tractor have power steering? Are the brakes inboard or are they in the hub area? What about a differential lock? Is the engine a 3 or a 4 cylinder? For me the 3000 series is an uncomfortable tractor to operate for an extended time. It is not an ergonomically designed tractor. I have a 3910 (newer version) with very low hours and I do not like it.

It has a 3 cylinder engine.
No idea on hours either.
Our biggest issue is our price point, need something under $6000 and want a loader.

a Ford 3400 is and ag tractor. The 3500 is an Industrial. You can tell by the "armor" plating, around the radiator.

These are for the 3 cylinder tractors, not the later 4 cylinder.

Not, positive, but by judging by the location of the air cleaner, it could be a 4500, which has it's own stronger, internal hydraulic pump.

I have a 69' 4500 (same series) gas, 2500 hours,with a loader/backhoe.

Sherman tanks don't have the steel, these industrial tractors have.

If it's in good running shape, I see no reason, 3500 or 4500, gas, or diesel, that they would not last forever.

Mine will be used, to dig my grave.

PS haggle on the price, but that a good deal, if the tractor runs and does not smoke oil.

The 3500 was sold in both gas and diesel - same engine block.

I researching what the "50" designates.

If you could get the 3 row of numbers, stamped on the block, behind the starter, we could tell for sure.

.................Look around for a Ford (yellow) 340A , 44 hp , 3 cylinder diesel , mfged around 1980-84 or so . Small industrial tractor , about 9,000 pounds or a little more with wheels weights............mine had wheel weights both inside and outside on rear axle ! FE Loader was VERY strong and had a lot of 'Digout' power as the FE loader had it's own , dedicated Hyd. Pump ! They may come in 4WD and that would be a very welcome addition . , fordy

In my 40 some years of landscaping I have used these tractors almost exclusively. We beat them like rented mules and they just kept running. It's a good deal at that price.

its a good deal on a really good tractor, the only thing I see is that someone somewhere replaced the rear tires and rims with smaller ones. on mine the tires are even with the fenders and I've had it since it was brand new. also parts are readily available at any new holland dealer.

How close are you? I'd go look.

This could be a really good deal.. or maybe not, but until you go see for yourself you'll never know. We can guess all day, but until you see what comes out of the stack, and how it pulls, its only a guessing game.
