Friend has a BAD rash

Went to the hospital. They couldnt diagnose the reason for the rash, nor a remedy. its all over the body. Had it a week. But is ALL red, and its up into the back. Spots all over the body. Any ideas of anything to try on it.

Calamine lotion, buttermilk compresses corn starch clotrimazole, lotion 2 antibiotics. one being levaquin.

Any ideas?

Have they done an allergy test? I guess I would try comfrey compresses, with or without calendula.

Find another hospital. Look up restricted diets for a start. Not something to fool around with.

Sure sounds like a second opinion is needed. You just don't get whole body rashes for no reason... and it could get worse... or not.. .

Someone who develops reactions to common foods may develop rashes. A restricted diet is one that minimizes the number of variables by limiting the number of foods, and also avoids many of the common "problem" foods. A diet that starts out with lamb and rice and has a limited menu would be a restricted diet. Wheat, egg, soy, nuts, beef, and a number of other foods are at least temporarily off-limits.

The only thing that worked for me was ZYRTEC.....the generic is good as well...I finally found a PA after a dozen visits to the clinic....calamine lotion helps....also diaper rash ointment has zinc oxide in it ...will help with itching and dries it.....

Second the diet and allergy advice. I got a really bad reaction to nutmeg in eggnog that a friend made. My entire body was covered in a red bumpy rash for days. I finally went to the dr. and got a prescription antihistamine that took the rash down quickly. It was quite a while after that to figure out it was nutmeg.

Does it itch?

If not it could be pityriasis rosea. If so there will be one spot bigger than the rest. Like a 2+ inch oblong called a herald patch.

If you could get a picture of it I might b able o ID what it is.

What Harry said or just brown rice for more than a week if I recall.

Definitely see another health professional. Can he see a holistic or homeopathic doctor?

I have a Chiropractor who does so much more than backs - even organ and hormonal problems. Any like that in your area?

Bedbugs? Had a friend show me what I thought was a rash. It turned out to be a bad infestation of bed bugs.

Bed bugs are on the rise..

Steroids would help some of the irritation too unless the infection itself was so bad that they were counter indicated.

Bill, if he is in the hospital and they didnt give ideas, then he needs to see a different doctor. None of us are going to have any better ideas than two different hospitals.

My kids had something that sounds like this a few years back. My wife had changed washing powders and they were allergic to it.

My sister battled a rash like that last year for months. They tried everything under the sun and couldn't figure out what it was. She finally went for allergy tests and it was dust mites. She literally dug herself until she was in pain constantly from it.

BEDBUGS <> That is what they will do if you sleep where they are located. Red spots all over you body. Bemidryl will clear up the spots but fumigation is nessesary to get rid of the bedbugs.
