Yellow Jackets still after me !!

Ok.. a few days ago we explain to you all that we yellow jackets inside the house..livingroom mostly. Big..ones !!! did all the usual things..check here and there. Well. found the nest up under the eaves outside of the house outside of one of the 2nd floor bedroom windows. don't see them coming into the house but they come into the livingroom..somehow ?? Husband went up and sprayed with the spray and saw only a few last night inside the house. Today they are back..have killed 50 today so far. Have read on line all the things to do but realize that the night time might be the best time to be up on the roof killing them. actually probablyre a under the siding of the house or even in the walls. Can not see a nesxt inside the attic...So..I guess we need to try again Other than hoping we get a major snow storm or very cold spell now..which I doubt..do we just keep spraying where we see them and maybe take out the siding there...but am getting a little scared of the little buggers for sure and if the ssiding if moved should I expect to be attacked. Been stung 7 times in the last week Other than leaving home until Christmas is there any help for us !!??

That's horrible!

You could try poisoning them.
You take meat (like ground beef) and mix a bit of it in a bowl with Frontline and set it out for them.
They tear off chunks of the meat and carry it back to the nest, effectively killing off everyone.
We have found that it works pretty well and doesn't attract pollinators.
We need to set another 'trap' out. They are very desperate this time of year as cold weather sets in.. they will hit on about anything~
Pony and Maura like this.

i have heard that if you get a yellow jacket trap..then freeze the ones that you trap ..then feed them to the chickens..the chickens will get a taste for them and they'll eat all of them they can find.

Set out a dish of anything fermented - beer, wine, old grape juice. They will go for that rather than you. Don't drink said juice or they will go for your lips.

Chimney? Do you have a chimney? We had wasps in the house once and could not figure how where the world they were coming in. We kept killing them and killing them. Finally we noticed wasps crawling down the bricks inside the fireplace! We had to to up on roof and spray in the chimney cover thing.

Good luck - what a mess.

You've got to carefully go through every room of the house and find the spot where they are getting in. When you find it you have to seal it up. Not only will that prevent other pests from entering, but it may eliminate drafts from getting in.

Take a bowl, fill it with water, add a few drops of dish soap, and hang a piece of meat on the rim of the bowl.

They eat the meat and then before heading back to the nest they try to get a drink and fall into the water because the surface tension is gone and drown.

What you may be dealing with is not a nest but bred queens looking for a place to over winter. It's pretty easy for them to enter the attic and then come in through light fixtures. Had that problem in our old house this time of year. They seemed to be attracted to ceiling lights at night and would wiggle through the mounting box and begin flying around in the room banging into things.

Ouch! Sorry you have taken such a "hit" with these nasty varmits. I hate wasps, not only do they hurt, they make me itch like a big dog. I was glad to read about the traps, and I will be using them next year if need be. Good luck and I hope it freezes soon for your sake.
