Porch to Greenhouse conversion

Hi All,

Not sure where to post this. I have an attached 10 wide by 30 feet long screen porch on the back of the house. The roof material is starting to get old. I would like to exchange it for a greenhouse type roof. Lowes or HD has poylcarbinate roofing that is clear. It is about 2 feet wide and is around $35 per piece. It is corrugated like the green greenhouse roofing but is supposed to last much longer. Can this be used? Do I need the green stuff or is there something better?

Thanks,

Sheryl

We tried some of that - also from Lowe's but it did not work good. The curved edges have to have a piece of foam stuff under it and the foam pieces kept coming out. Also the wind gets under the edges. We tried it on a back porch but finally gave up and just put a regular roof on it.

Did that on the siding of my out building. the stufff yellowed and cracked due to the sun. I have ordered a translucent poly from a place in ND. Read, read, read on what your optons are. Northern Greenhouse Sales is the name of the company. Call and ask for a sample, look at the gallery. Good fortune to ya on your project.

Dont use the stuff from Lowes - Get the polycarbanate sheets from a greenhouse supply company in your area. We built an attached greenhouse and used them they are pricey but they are garenteed for 20 years and they dont yellow crack ect. Worth the extra money

We used the Lowes stuff on our back deck. The first hailstorm we had left it with not a single panel intact...
