Fresh eggs in Denver?

I have a friend in Denver that has asked my help in finding her someone in Denver to buy fresh eggs from. It seems that most of the members of farmer's markets in Denver are not actually raising or growing their own goods. They are buying their stuff from the same large operations the grocery stores do and then just jacking up the price for the privilege of buying at the market. She knows of a few coops but says they are a couple hours away, too far for her. I've tried some online searching with no luck. Surely someone in the area raises their own chicken for eggs to sell! Thought I might have some luck asking my forum peeps for any information.

Thanks!

Actually in my area Eat Wild has a bigger selection of meat/egg producers.

Tell her to check out Denver Urban Homesteading. They might be able to help.

We have noticed the same thing here - things from Cali being sold here in Grand Rapids, MI. Needless to say - those vendors do not get my business. At least they are required to put where the produce came from.

On pricing, my local supplier charges $1.50 dozen for medium-size eggs. That's more than regular Jumbo supermarket eggs. My M&P supermarket doesn't carry organic eggs so I don't know price there.

I noticed the same problem with the farmers market that was in Aurora when I lived there. I think there should be some law that if you don't ggrow it, and want to sell it anyway, call it anything but a farmers market.
