Good Winter Gloves
What do yall look for in a good quality work glove?
Fleece gets too wet, my regular garden gloves will turn my fingers numb..
I dont want something that is going to hold moisture but is going to hold heat.

Here's what I do.
I buy a bunch of the cheap brown Jersey work gloves.
Then I put a disposal nitrile glove on first, to keep my hand dry. Jersey glove over the top of that ... change out when they get too sodden.
I can't stand wearing thick, heavy gloves. Actually, I find a lot of the time I can get by with just wearing the nitrile gloves ... my hands stay warm enough as long as they're dry.

I usually wear a pair of leather (pigskin) work gloves, unlined. I can find them in Small or Medium, so they fit my hands better, and they do keep in enough heat in my climate that I don't need to switch to winter gloves until it gets real cold. I imagine in your climate it would work fine. Always tough finding good work gloves in women's sizes...

During real cold weather, either snowmobiling or icefishing gloves. If what we are doing allows us to wear mitts, either leather choppers with a wool liner or USGI surplus Arctic N-4B mitts.

CabinFever, the location is posted as Georgia, not sure if they would need artic gloves (although in REALLY cold weather they work well)....lol
In mildly cold weather I use neoprene gloves like these http://www.basspro.com/Glacier-Glove...roduct/102807/
Although they dont breathe the greatest and do lose their waterproofness when they tear I think they give me the most protection and dexterity so far. But they do get stinky after a few years. I have found that Sink the Stink 4 oz. Bottle works on them.

I'll vote for leather gloves with a synthetic lining as well, they work fine in NC. I've never tried it, but you could probably work some Snow-seal type product into them to give them a little more water resistance if desired.

You are right! Why would anybody from Georgia need any special gloves for winter weather? I'd use the same gloves that are used during the summer.

I buy a bag of the yellow fuzzy gloves at TSC. When when my gloves get wet, I dry them on the floor of my truck. If they get super wet, they go through the washer and dryer with my jeans. It is almost celebratory when I get out a new pair. For colder weather I wear poly prop type with a little leather reenforcment in the palm. I get by with them for casual wear too.
Granted we only have extreme cold a dozen days here and there in the winter.
Is it time for for CF to post the picture of the frozen JD? Naw...

Leather. Make sure to have more than one pair to change out if they get too wet.
If I need more than this, it's time to go back to the house.

I have latex dipped gloves for wet work, leather for heavy work like moving firewood, fleece for cold. What I do have is a number of each so that if they get wet, I can change off.

Add another pair of wool liners with the thumb cut out to your pair on the right and you have my snowblowing mitts! I can hardly wait....NOT.
