Check Your Paypal/Ebay Shipping

fair warning - 3 of the last 4 Ebay purchases I have made, have had shipping addresses input by Paypal that I have not been able to see on my Paypal account address page. Once, several years ago, I had a one time shipment of a book I bought on Ebay shipped to the Glenn Beck Show in NYC. Somewhere, Paypal has resurrected that address and has assigned it to my auctions as the shipping address. I checked on my Paypal account and that address was not listed as an Address that I could see. I would check your account and also take a close look at your purchases since about Mid August and make sure that Ebay/Paypal haven't done the same to you. To prevent it from happening again, I had the Paypal folks on the phone and had them read me all of the possible addresses they could assign. It turns out that there were 3 extra addresses on my account that hadn't been used in multiple years. I had the lady at Paypal delete those erroneous addresses.

And I have found that it is not just Paypal. Apparently as per Cynthia at Paypal, sometimes Ebay's computer just decides to change your shipping address and it goes into it's database for you and it picks one and makes it primary. I highly suggest you check your Ebay shipping addresses and delete any old addresses except for the one for your home. That way Ebay's computer can't assign some other address at it's whim and fancy.

Getting a live person on phone at Paypal that has power to do anything is no easy feat. Congratulations. Paypal is fine until you have to do something outside its computerized system. Then it turns nightmarish.

As to Paypal credit card, they offer a Mastercard credit card through GE Bank that is accepted anyplace that accepts Mastercard. Course its separate from your Paypal account. you can pay your GE credit card with balance from Paypal account if you choose, but they are separate. I'd rather have this real credit card with real protections already written into law.

I think what Paypal is going for is to integrate a "debit card" type thing into your Paypal account itself. Money moves in and out of your Paypal account, not a GE credit card account. Eventually they want to move that to a phone app where you check out by just waving your phone during checkout. I personally think I would avoid that until they do away with credit/debit cards altogether. Talk about nightmare if somebody hacks your phone.....

This is Discover Card that is doing this. This is brand new thing for Paypal.

PayPal today announced a partnership with Discover to bring its payment system to more than 7 million retailers nationwide.
Beginning next year, Discover's PayPal function will allow participating merchants to accept PayPal payments, as well as provide benefits to customers via the Discover card.

Don Kingsborough, said in a statement. The "milestone moment," he said, allows Discover customers to bask in new benefits, without the bulk of new hardware or software.
"This relationship will deliver a truly seamless digital wallet, available most places consumers shop offline," Kingsborough said. PayPal already serves 113 million active online customers.

This is nothing new.... I've had a PayPal debit card for the last several years that is accepted anywhere Visa/Mastercard is accepted. Of course, being a debit card, the money has to be on deposit in your PayPal account or have it tied to your bank account as a backup funding source. Since I do NOT do debt, I use just the debit card.
