I hope that's not a quart jar!

Probably a wolf spider. http://ednieuw.home.xs4all.nl/Spider.../Lycosidae.htm

Wolf spider. They keep turning up in our house. That is an egg sac. Soon, hundreds if itty bitty wolf spiders will hatch and be carried around on it by the mama. It is a beneficial spider, but best sent outdoors and far from the house!

No its a small jar. The spider is maybe 4" wide. I did leave it on the door this morning when I found it. It was still there tonight though so it had to go.

We have them all over and they are very cool to study. They catch a lot of insects and we just let them be; they wont hurt you.

Yep, wolf spider. We have tons of them here. My cat likes to chase them in the house. If you step on one when their eggs are about to hatch hundreds of tiny spiders will run everywhere. Ask me how I know!

Definitely a Wolf spider, and they are a lot creepier when a few thousand babies go running everywhere.

They're not wild about bright lights. Used to keep a porch light on so I could keep some of the bigguns from appearing in my house at night.

I can't imagine all of you studying them or watching them. I would have squished the thing when I saw it. You are all so brave to let them stay around.

I dont mind spiders its the snakes I dont care for but I even let them be. I'm hoping if I leave them alone they will leave me alone. Back in May I had this crawling down my hallway. This was after it went across my kitchen table. Not sure where it was 5 minutes earlier when I was in there stirring my coffee. And for referrence those tiles are 12 x 12. I never did see him again.

I wasnt standing there when he did it. Although I was in the kitchen 5 minutes earlier and didnt see him. first coffee of the day and all. .. I was down in the office and heard an empty water bottle fall to the floor in the kitchen 5 minutes later. I thought it was a mouse or something so went in there and saw him going across the table. That's when I grabbed my gun and my camera LOL. Fortunately for him he took a right when he came out of the kitchen so he got "shot" with the camera. He went into my utility room and under the washing machine. I haven't seen him since.

I do not like spiders or snakes indoors. I have just about every type of spider around here in my house including Brown Recluse and yes I do know what they look like. Most people just call any brown spider a brown recluse. So far I haven't been bit. I spray for them once in a while but they never completely go away. I hate the things because of the damage they can do. The wolf spiders can bite also. They will not necessarily leave you alone. If you fail to see them and touch or crush them they may bite and it can be a bit painful. The only spider we have around here which I have yet to fine in my house is the Black Widow. I hate spiders. I have been bit before but not yet by the Recluse or Widow.

We have seen (and unfortunately had to kill one of them) a couple of black widows in the house but the scariest at first was a huge Missouri Tarantula we found in the basement. It was the size of my hand and very hairy and I almost jumped out of my skin when I saw it crawling up the basement wall. We ended up capturing it in a jar and letting him go in the garden. I dont mind spiders and snakes too much unless they come up on me unexpectedly and I have found that studying about them greatly lessens the fear of them.
