This deserves some attention.

Farmers in Fauquier County are planning to bring their pitchforks to an Aug. 2 hearing before the Board of Zoning Appeals to protest the arbitrary treatment of one of their own. On April 30, Zoning Administrator Kimberley Johnson sent Martha Boneta an official cease-and-desist notice for selling farm products and hosting a birthday party for her best friend's 10-year-old daughter on her 70-acre Paris, Va., farm without a special administrative permit.

Virginia Right to Farm Act??? To think that was even necessary, to protect farmers, in VA no less, is amazing.

Pitchforks.

used to live in fauquier co.

it's close to Wash DC and Baltimore Md. (murder capital & charm city)

need _I say more?

lots of people come from the city & want to live 'in the country' but not with all those stinky smells and gross cows----eeeeewwwww!

for awhile some people were trying to legislate how a place should smell . . .

I'm 30 years old and have been using a pitchfork since my Dad and Papaw taught me as a 7 year old. Use it every day now to feed all the cattle, sheep and goats in this drought.
I got a couple extra if they need help!

I hope other producers do show up, a bunch of them. A show of solidarity and enough people to remind those commissioners how much of the county's income is a result of agriculture.

Perhaps some folks can bring a manure fork or two just to keep the meeting room orderly.

I love my pitchforks!
I have at least 2... different handle lengths and number of forks etc...
I use them often.
Great for turning compost, loading barn cleanings etc..
Couldn't make it without one.

Been there, done that. To add insult to injury (a hole in the top of my foot) now my blasted muck boots leak!!

I have three forks. My favorite is an old coal fork. Works great for cleanin' stalls.
Oh yeah, I'm in my 30s, Bill.

If I bring a rusty one from my mom's tool stash, will I look more threatening? We haven't gotten one ourselves yet since the chicken gazebo cleans out easily with a shovel . . .

I have 4 pitchforks... know where they all are, and they all get used very regularly. No, it's not just old Cermudgins like yourself that have pitchforks FFB... they even sell brand new ones in the stores yet!

That could be a sticky situation Will. Specially if ya already got people who have stuck themselves with their own forks, Whaddia u think would happen in a room fulla them lol

Yup I know where mine is. Its a 4 tiner. I had a couple 3 tiners, but broke the handles. Still got them, but they arent of much use. Never copuld figure out how to replace the handles to where they would stay attached to the fork, or hoe, or rake, ect.

FBB, we have several, different tine numbers too. Also have a couple of potato forks. Those might be a little safer in a crowd.

We have one pitch fork. Would a plastic future fork be acceptable for the meeting? If so, then DH could attend also!

Although from the sounds of it, a shovel might be more appropriate!

I have two pitchforks. I could come over and bring them with me if you like! Trouble is, they might not let me on the plane with them!
