Just Bought My First Truck!

Just had to say this out loud somewhere!

Just bought a new (to me truck). Sold (selling) my Grand Cherokee and my Vespa and switching over to a little 4x4. Nothing fancy. Just a Ford. But so looking forward to it.

Simplify, simplify, simplify.

Been telling all my urban friends it was because the dog needed a better ride. :-) Easier than explaining the whole country dream thing.

You know on the goat board we say that if you don't post a pic, it didn't happen.

Let's try this....

Red wasn't by first choice, but that's ok! Care more about what's under the paint.

Over the years, a person can get used to many things. Not all, but many.

Westend,

I have that exact same truck. 2005, Ford Ranger with extended cab. I bought mine used about 8 months ago with 135,000 miles on it. It has performed very well. I have the V-6 with automatic transmission. I get right at 20 MPG running around town.

Hope you enjoy your new truck.

BTW - I also own a 1997 Ranger that I bought new. It has a 4 cylinder engine and has 285,000 miles on it. Still doing okay. I just got nervous and when the 2005 became available I decided to buy it. Going to run the 1997 until it quits.

Good to hear you've had a good experience. This has around 90K and is a 4WD, V6 with manual transmission.

285,000 miles...----, you got your money's worth!!!

I've owned 2 rangers in my life, an '86, 4x4 reg.cab 7' bed, 3.0 v6, 5 speed was my first new car. Also a '95 extended cab 4x4 auto v6. both seen over 200k under my watch, and the 95 was my nephews first car. I ended up putting a trans in the 95 but the weight I'd haul in it even while pulling a 5x8 loaded trailer to boot was sometimes insane.
Since then I've moved up to a 3/4 ton that is not a daily driver.

Congrats.
Now you'll be spoiled for the rest of your life, lol.
I've owned different makes and models over the years, and I think you made a choice you can't go wrong with.
One word of warning. Now that you own a P/U, you will become an expert and go-to-guy for all your friends when it comes time to move anything! Next investment - ropes, chains and tarps.

I guess I'd have to use black and white film to post a pic of our 1990 4x4 Ranger.

I'd have kept the vespa... trucks get terrible MPG. Good lookin truck. I assume you're not doing much towing or hauling though?

Just light weight stuff, maybe light weight towing. And the truck gets better gas mileage than my Jeep Grand Cherokee! It's a good fit for me. The dealer is delivering it in about an hour. Looking forward to it.
